Re: Steering Committee Recommendations (was: Re: Call for Nominations to LDraw.org ...)

(...) I agree that the library license is important, and I have stated(1) that it's going to be a primary focus of mine to get a good license structure in place for *all* the components that go into making up the LDraw System. But I think it is (...) (20 years ago, 27-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw) !!

(...) I agree - while I have a preference for open-sourced programs, it's the licensing of the library that I'm more concerned about. ... (...)   Re: Call for Nominations to LDraw.org Steering Committee

The LDraw Standards Committee, or LSC, is a special committee, recognised by the bylaws as a special sort of SIG with special processes, that is in charge of developing, codifying, and fostering the growth of the file, naming, coding and other (...)   Re: Call for Nominations to LDraw.org Steering Committee

(...) Here's the clarification: The LDraw.org Steering Committee (StC) is the controlling group for LDraw as an organization. The LDraw Standards Committee (LSC) is charged with maintaining and expanding the LDraw file format. - Orion (20 years ago, 27-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: Call for Nominations to LDraw.org Steering Committee

(...) Yes. Unfortunately, the acronym can cause confusion. We should fix that by clearly defining acronyms for each. There is the LDraw.org Standards Committee (LSC) - elected last July and charged with adopting standards and publishing spec (...) (20 years ago, 27-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: Call for Nominations to LDraw.org Steering Committee

(...) Um, I feel a bit foolish, but since Andrew brought it up I guess I should ask. Are there really two different LSCs, a Steering Committee and a Standards Committee? If so, what's the difference? I must've missed that somewhere. Thanks, Don (20 years ago, 27-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

I don't disagree with the names you suggested, what I don't really understand is why it would be a Good Thing for a candidate not to inform about his/her intentions (or lack thereof)? -- Anders Isaksson, Sweden BlockCAD: (2 URLs) (20 years ago, 26-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: Call for Nominations to LDraw.org Steering Committee

As we get nearer to the election, I wanted to post my thoughts on what I think the steering committee should look like. We're electing the SC to lead the LDraw organization. To codify it, define what it really is, and how it works. In the past we (...) (20 years ago, 26-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: New LDraw contest?

So what exactly has to happen to get the first LDraw animation contest going? I say give everyone until to the middle of June to submit entires and start voting and announce winners at the end of June. I think that should give everyone enough time. (...)
