Everything seems to be hunky-dory.  When I click a [DAT] link from Lugnet,
the content pops up in L3Lab with a .ldr extension.  When I launch a .LDR
file from the desktop, it comes up in L3Lab.

Here's a potentially dumb question:  will we be changing the file format at
all during the switch from .dat to .ldr, or will it still be the same
text-readable setup we all know and love?

Yeah, like Tim said: the file format is staying the same.

There are only two changes going on:

1. LDraw.org semi-officially endorses the .LDR extension as the standard for
LDraw files.  This stance doesn't have a *direct* effect on anything.

2. Program writers hopefully will change their programs to recognize .LDR as
the default filetype-extension for LDraw files.  So your LDraw files will be
saved as model1.ldr, instead of model1.dat.
