Keep in mind that we already have a something of standard keyboard
convention in place.  The LEdit key commands.

I would prefer developers of new CAD programs use key interfaces
that make sense, and not ones hamstrung by idiosyncrasies of
pre-existing software.  I'm not saying LEdit's commands are
good or bad (I wouldn't know, I've only used MLCAD).  I'm just
saying that it makes more sense to come up with an improved
system, if possible, rather than carry on with a clunky one
just because some users may already be familiar with it.
Those people will adapt..., and brand new users will be much
happier.

Why don't you take a look at the LEdit keyboard shortcuts and perhaps
give them a try.  They're listed here and many of them work in Move
mode in MLCAD.

Then make some specific suggestions like in these old threads.

Consider what would be easier to remember, or more efficient.
eg. I find it quickest to use the part color shortcut key and type
a color number, except I need a hint to remember some colors.

Also, if the keyboard shortcuts start out like LEdit, but can be
modified according to user preferences, then everyone should be
happy.

PS. Sometimes thinkquest seems to make you go through the front door
of the site to get to the LEdit keys page.  Watch out for that.  You
may have to go here first.
