You *don't* know for *certain*
just by looking at that name...

By using "modern" and "archaic",
there would be *no* ambiguity:
an *archaic* pistol means the Pirate Pistol,
and nothing else.
A *modern* pistol (or revolver)
means the Wild West Revolver,
and nothing else [1].
I hope you can see where I'm going with this.
I want to be *just* precise enough
to avoid *any* reasonable confusion.

Just as a casual LDraw user, I appreciate the effort to disambiguate the names by including "Archaic" vs. "Modern," but then again it wouldn't be obvious to me what "Archaic" meant and what "Modern" meant. | My opinion would be: minifig pirate rifle minifig pirate pistol minifig ww rifle minifig ww pistol This keeps everything very simple.
