  Organizing the LDraw CD-ROM

Well, since we've discussed some of the logistics behind producing the CD, its time to get the organization down. First off, I'll send out emails to everyone who has contributed a utility that works with the LDraw system, and get permission to (...)   Re: Organizing the LDraw CD-ROM

Why don't you simply publish ldraw.org website on the cd? All the stuff is there, right? Build On! John Matthews Tim Courtney <tim@zacktron.com> wrote in message news:FpG5Gw.DxE@lugnet.com...   Re: Organizing the LDraw CD-ROM

(...) Actually, not all the stuff is there. And it would be best to include some resources which are not on ldraw.org, such as the LDraw and LEdit tutorial, personal creations, animations, etc. The HTML Guide to the CD-ROM that I have in my head (...)   Re: Organizing the LDraw CD-ROM

I can't be sure of this, but I might try a Visual Basic program that would give the user a option of what programs to install and where. That away, if the user doesn't want all the stuff on the harddrive, he doesn't have to install it. Another thing (...) (24 years ago, 5-Feb-00, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: Organizing the LDraw CD-ROM

(...) Wouldn't try that. Too many people don't have VB runtimes installed, and just throwing them on the CD doesn't work (unless you want to make people install them first, which is a pain, but could work).   Re: Organizing the LDraw CD-ROM

(...) You *don't* want to use a VB-based program as an installer. Before a VB program can run, all the VB-runtime files have to be installed.   Re: Organizing the LDraw CD-ROM

(...) So? In many more cases, the VB runtimes will *not* be installed. And the not-installed machines are more likely to be run by the technically-un-savvy.
