  LDView requests

I think it would be cool to be able to set/input camera parameters directly. Currently, you can only export them to POV-Ray. It would be nice to be able to set them as well to get a sort of preview before a final render. I also think it would be (...) (13 years ago, 28-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Account issues

Dear all, The webmasters have made a difficult decision on LDraw accounts due to a proliferation of spambots and other non-genuine accounts. Please see (URL) for updates. The text below is copied from that article. Tim ---- Of late there has been a (...) (13 years ago, 28-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw) !

CAD for Lego , and related research questions...

Hi, Way way back in 2000, I asked about CAD (Computer Aided Architectural Design) for Lego(R) system on this forum. Since 2000 a lot has changed, and I'd like to update my original analysis to a much fuller one, based on intervening developments in (...) (13 years ago, 26-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: LDView browser plugin?

(...) Yes, I forgot about the parts library. That would definitely pose a difficulty. -Mike (13 years ago, 26-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: LDView browser plugin?

(...) I agree that this seems a good fit for WebGL, but there is one problem. LDraw.org is FAR too slow to serve up the part files for a web-based viewer without driving the user crazy. A plugin could install a local copy of the parts library. (...) (13 years ago, 24-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: LDView browser plugin?

(...) I have no plans to do so. Since LDView is open source, in theory anyone could build one based on it. Additionally, I have an LDView-based DLL (used by Bram Lambrecht for LSculpt's preview window and Michael Heidemann for DATHeader's built-in (...) (13 years ago, 24-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: LDView browser plugin?

(...) A possible starting place for this kind of project might be tapping into the new WebGL capabilities of Firefox and Chrome (and hopefully once things have standardized, other browsers as well). See the following link for examples of WebGL in (...) (13 years ago, 23-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  LDView browser plugin?

Are there any plans on creating an LDView-based browser plugin? It would be nice if a plugin were added to the Firefox or Chrome plugin libraries, as well as automatically loaded and found when encountering LDraw files. -Mike (13 years ago, 19-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: LDVIEW not working on Vista

Thanks for your suggestions. I want you to know that I really do appreciate them. I have some replies to them below. (The replies, taken by themselves, may imply that I'm being defensive, and that isn't my intention.) (...) That may be true, but the (...) (13 years ago, 3-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: LDVIEW not working on Vista

(...) This seems to indicate a problem with Win 7 write protection of the "C:\Program Files" hierarchy, or the Registry. Even if you are logged in as Administrator in Win 7, you are not running with full Administrator rights, *unless* the program (...) (13 years ago, 3-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: LDVIEW not working on Vista

(...) Just as a note, I contacted Ludo via e-mail, and I am attempting to figure out what is going on. Since I haven't made much progress, I'm still happy for people to post suggestions here in this thread. Since he said it worked when launched from (...) (13 years ago, 2-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: LDVIEW not working on Vista

(...) That may be a clue indeed, as all my (working) LDraw programs are installed in a C:\LDraw\apps folder. Philo (13 years ago, 2-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: LDVIEW not working on Vista

(...) Where did you install the programs? Both Vista and Windows 7 treat the "C:\Program Files" folder hierarchy in a special, extra protected way. Many 'old' programs will work much better if installed outside of this folder, for example create (...) (13 years ago, 1-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: LDVIEW not working on Vista

(...) From which location you know the version number 4.1.0.14? I can only see 4.1.0 here and it works perfect on windows 7 64 bit! Maybe just uninstall and install again. cu mikeheide (13 years ago, 27-Feb-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  LDVIEW not working on Vista

Hi, I installed the LDVIEW 4.1.0.14 utility. With the initial setup, i could start LDVIEW. Anyhow, when i want to restart it after closing, it's no longer working.
