Re: New Part: (needs Number) - Baseplate 32 x 32 Craters —Travis Cobbs
(...) That won't really work. The edge and disc primitives only have 16 sides, which isn't really enough for circles that big. Plus, he'd have to redo the surrounding mesh to meet up with a 16-sided circle. It looks great, Willy. The only thing I (...) (22 years ago, 2-Oct-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part: (needs Number) - Baseplate 32 x 32 Craters —Don Heyse
(...) You could include an empty subpart file for the type 5 lines, just in case someone wants to make them later. Also, perhaps the hilly area itself should be made into a subpart. That might make it easier to add the crater studs and the painted (...) (22 years ago, 2-Oct-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part: (needs Number) - Baseplate 32 x 32 Craters —Willy Tschager
(...) hmm ... the 6190 Shark's Crystal Cave version uses dithers colors which have to go into a subfile anyway. so we would have a sub-subfile. please consider also that most of the paint covers the flat area which has to be remodelled. it doesn't (...)          Re: New Part: (needs Number) - Baseplate 32 x 32 Craters —Don Heyse
(...) I'm not sure what you mean about the sub-subfile, but I suppose it doesn't really matter. I dug out the shark baseplate and it turns out even the hill is painted. Is that what you're talking about with the sub-subfile? Anyhow, I was just (...) (22 years ago, 4-Oct-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part: (needs Number) - Baseplate 32 x 32 Craters —Willy Tschager
hi don, (...) that's the point. I don't own that baseplate, but having a look at: (URL) can spot a colored area on the big crater ground. this means that I have to split the hill in at least 2 subpart. but there is more. looking at: (URL) seams that (...)          Re: New Part: (needs Number) - Baseplate 32 x 32 Craters —Thomas Garrison
(...) There's a fairly clear picture in Ralf Herbers's baseplate reference (URL) that since this version has studs inside the craters, it would technically be a part variation with pattern, not just a patterned version of the part. . . -- TWS (...)          Re: New Part: (needs Number) - Baseplate 32 x 32 Craters —Willy Tschager
(...) hmm ... the pattern on the hill is far more complex than I ever thought :-(. just putting the hill into a subpart wouldn't do the job. at this point I'll post the part to the PT without a hilly subpart. it just would require to much time (I (...)         Re: New Part: (needs Number) - Baseplate 32 x 32 Craters —Willy Tschager
(...) thx for reading my mind ;-) (...) I think ... max2dat can generate them. I have to check it. What are they for? I just started part-authoring in spring and I'm still not familiar with all the specifications. (...) well, the hill is made of (...) (22 years ago, 4-Oct-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part: (needs Number) - Baseplate 32 x 32 Craters —Travis Cobbs
(...) They are used on curved surfaces so that they can receive an outline when edge lines are drawn. My program, LDView, can also use them as indicators of a curved surface, and use smooth shading. In fact, the lack of smooth shading was my first (...)
