Hi All. I am getting more familiar with MLCAD and the creation of LDRAW models every day, but one thing I cannot figure out yet is how to set up the alignment of sub-parts. Now I am sure I am using the wrong name for this, so let me explain. If I (...) (22 years ago, 6-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad)

(...) This happens to me all the time. You think I'd've learned better by now. :) The best thing to do is to make sure you keep the model centered as you create the sub-part file. :) If you've finished the model (or part of it), and you realize it's (...) (22 years ago, 6-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad)

(...) Hmmm. I can certainly do that. What determines the center? The problem I think I am running into is understanding where MLCAD is creating the center. Does it create the center of the picture based on the center of the first object placed? and (...) (22 years ago, 6-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad)

(...) I (...) center. (...) IMHO the center of a (sub)model is determined by the center of the first part. I would like to advice you though to work with MPD files in MLCad and not create a single DAT file for every submodel. Greetingz... Sjaacko (22 years ago, 6-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad)

(...) The 'center' of a model is fixed, in terms of the position. It's at position <0,0,0>. Each piece in a model has a specific position, which changes as you move the part around. If you look in MLCAD's 'Active Model' pane, at the list of parts, (...) (22 years ago, 6-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad)

(...) What I am doing right now is loading a DAT file with the sub-model as a custom part, thereby making the entire submodel a single piece which can be easily moved or rotated within the main model. If I recall correctly, when you pull in a (...) (22 years ago, 7-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad)

(...) MPD allows you keep your submodels in the same file as your main model, so it's easier to copy and distribute the whole thing in one piece. What you do is this: Start a new master model file in MLCAD (or open an existing one). To create a (...) (22 years ago, 7-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad)
