|
| | Not long ago, Karim Nassar posted a note on the L-CAD mailing list saying that the interior of the "6538 Technic Axle Joiner" was rotated 45° comparing with the original piece. This is true. On the other hand, I discovered yesterday that I have (...) (26 years ago, 2-Feb-99, to lugnet.cad)

| | | | (...) :-) I just noticed, BTW, that the one I have which is the way Jessiman drew it, is from the 8857 Street Chopper. (URL) the oldest Technic set I have with an axle joiner, so I guess all sets from 1993 and backwards have this version. The 8880 (...) (26 years ago, 3-Feb-99, to lugnet.cad)

Also, look at the pictures on the box (inside the cover, I think). Notice (...) (26 years ago, 3-Feb-99, to lugnet.cad)

| | | | (...) Cool.. I was gonna get an 8480 anyway, this makes it only more necessary :) I was thinking about either a 5 or 6 speed box w/reverse... I'd have to design something for the lever, but that shouldn't be too hard, especially considering I've got (...) (26 years ago, 4-Feb-99, to lugnet.cad)

| | | | (...) I don't think you can do that with the 8880 ... now with the 8480, you can take the two catch plates and seperate them by one stud, and then you have a 6-speed option. Hmmm ... looks like I have a weekend project ... :) -- Lee Jorgensen, (...) (26 years ago, 4-Feb-99, to lugnet.cad)

| | | | (...) I don't have 8480, so I don't know quite what you mean, but basically, if you do the 8880 setup, only three instead of 2 next to eachother, and _replace the stick_ with somthing that does 6 positions, it should work... Jasper (26 years ago, 4-Feb-99, to lugnet.cad)

| | | | (...) Look in the Technica Registry ... (URL) the changeover plates for the 8880, and the 8480, you cannot just stack three next to each other. First, you couldn't use any of the 8880 parts. That's specifically 4-position, and the gears are placed (...) (26 years ago, 5-Feb-99, to lugnet.cad)
