    modelling software —Alan Kershaw
Dear all, as a novice to the idea of CAD, does anyone have advice about software to use to design models on computer prior to building them.         Re: modelling software —Frank Buiting
(...) For LEGO Cad stuff, LDraw is somewhat the standard among AFOLs. I can recommend MLCad if you're working on a windows platform, it's a LDraw compatible program. A lot of info about CAD programs for LEGO can be found at (URL) You can also find (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad)

        Re: modelling software —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Creator is fun for blowing stuff up but is not really a "design" tool. As Frank B said, LDraw is the standard in the AFOL community, stick with LDraw compatible tools and you won't go far wrong. www.ldraw.org for what's available (all of this (...) The files are converted from the LDraw format because of speed issues (LeoCAD is several times faster than any other LDraw program) and James asked me not to redistribute the original files in .dat format.
