Dear all, as a novice to the idea of CAD, does anyone have advice about software to use to design models on computer prior to building them. I am thinking mostly of castles, and my attempts with Lego Creator have been very clunky and timeconsuming (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad)

(...) For LEGO Cad stuff, LDraw is somewhat the standard among AFOLs. I can recommend MLCad if you're working on a windows platform, it's a LDraw compatible program. A lot of info about CAD programs for LEGO can be found at (URL) You can also find (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad)

(...) Creator is fun for blowing stuff up but is not really a "design" tool. As Frank B said, LDraw is the standard in the AFOL community, stick with LDraw compatible tools and you won't go far wrong. www.ldraw.org for what's available (all of this (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad)

(...) Yes, yes, MLCAD is an excellent with lotsa features like that you can spin around the model in te 3d view, like L3Lab. It's even good enough to have it's own section on the legomindstorms.com forums. It's real good. Alan (24 years ago, 25-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad)
