I like to add that LDDP, LDAO, and, to some extent, L3PAO use the ldraw.ini file
to store program wide settings. I like this approach since it doesn't use the
registry (which I abhor) and therefore makes the data easier to find and the
program easier to port cross platform (which will happen with LDDP, I just have
to get around it).
Non global config and other stuff that need to be readily user editable but is
not editable in the program itself should use a loacl INI file until a built in
editor is implemented (e.g. LDDP's Meta command menu INI and MLCad's Minifig
Generator parts list).
At some point I would like to see the search paths section of the MLCad.ini
migrate to the ldraw.ini. This way LDDP, LDView, etc can use these settings
instead of the user having to reinput them in every program.

| (...) I haven't been able to keep up with this whole discussion, (sorry) but one thing struck me. Once upon a time we tried to put this sort of global config stuff in the generic ldraw.ini file instead an app specific file like mlcad.ini. Here's an (...) (20 years ago, 28-Mar-05, to lugnet.cad)
