Re: Centering (was: I need help with the new tread links)

*snip* (...) *snip* Thanks for the elucidation! One last question: how do you set the center of a piece permanently, as in a new DAT file? I notice, for example, that doors rotate on the anchoring studs, rather than on the center of "mass" of the (...) (25 years ago, 26-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  swept wings  [DAT]

I was working on a couple of models yesterday and stumbled upon this. I borrowed some technology from TLC, but it does not bother me to do so. I don't have time to do anything with it but I thought I would share with the community. After LDrawing it (...) (25 years ago, 26-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.dat.models)

Re: Centering (was: I need help with the new tread links)

(...) Yes to both questions. If you are unsure about the centre of the part you are currently working on, you can temporarily switch to a different part, move it around, set the centre, and LEdit will remember this 'till the next time you reset the (...)   Re: Centering (was: I need help with the new tread links)

(...) That works fine for me, because for now I use LEdit almost exclusively. I'm a little familiar with the "/T C" function; does this set the "center" to the center of the piece? How about when using subassemblies while drafting larger (...) (25 years ago, 26-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Centering (was: I need help with the new tread links)

(...) In LEdit you can set the rotation centre with the keystroke "/ T C". I don't know about other LEGO CAD packages, but I think they should follow the LEdit standard when it comes to keystrokes. Fredrik (25 years ago, 26-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Centering (was: I need help with the new tread links)

That was a trick answer. I don't know how and I am hoping someone will say how. I think MLCad takes the center of the grouping bounding rectangle. It certainly doesn't seem to be based on the origin. I had a submodel that I made sure had its 0,0,0 (...) (25 years ago, 26-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Centering (was: I need help with the new tread links)

(...) Actually, you've mentioned off-handedly something that's been bugging me for a long time; how do you "set" the center of rotation? As with a lot of my questions, I'm afraid the answer might be embarrassingly simple, but I haven't been able to (...) (25 years ago, 26-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: I need help with the new tread links

(...) Well, I'd get one positioned correctly in good contact with the gear, and in the horizontal plane, then group the two items together, make sure the center of rotation is the center of the gear, and rotate by the proper number of degrees. (...) (25 years ago, 26-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Clone DATs--any interest?

I am pretty purist myself and can't see using clones or modeling with them (except in trains if some clone comes along and delivers what most trainheads want at acceptable quality levels), but I repeat my thesis: Why be exclusionary? What's wrong (...) (25 years ago, 26-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.cad.dev)

  Linux Magazine Article

Anybody working on spoked Adventurer's wheel?

Now that the parts tracked doesn't seem to work, I'd like to ask if anybody are working on the spoked wheel, as seen in the Adventurers sets? I was thinking of giving it a try. Do anybody know the number for it? It doesn't seem to have a number (...) (25 years ago, 26-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Looks good, BUT 1.You should have put this in .cad.dat.models.sets. 2.Are you sure that there are lights in this set? 3.Do the lights have any holder brick?   Re: Problems with Ldraw related sites
