Re: ML-CAD 3.30 Problem while parts authoring

Re: "Dither" colors in patterned/sticker parts

(...) Wow, what a let down! I'm totally disappointed (with my apparently failing memory, not with you or LDView. Well, ok, maybe I'm just a teeny bit less impressed with LDView right now, but I'll get over it. :) Have fun, Don (15 years ago, 17-Feb-10, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: ML-CAD 3.30 Problem while parts authoring

(...) Oh yeah. I encountered this one the other day too. The angle gets set to a very large number. I believe that the normal/angle mapping only applies to rotations, not scaling and should be ignored when ||R||!=1. Tim (15 years ago, 16-Feb-10, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Re: "Dither" colors in patterned/sticker parts

(...) Texture maps let us wrap images to polygons. This is great for painted images on surfaces, such as mini-figure torsos or the sides of walls. Bump maps describe how each point (texel) in the texture reacts to light, by describing a virtual (...) (15 years ago, 16-Feb-10, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

ML-CAD 3.30 Problem while parts authoring

Hello Michael, I have a problem while parts authoring. When I have insert a new primitive and changing the first time it's values, like the size, evrything works fine. But when I want to change the size or so again. Then the "position & orientation" (...) (15 years ago, 16-Feb-10, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Re: "Dither" colors in patterned/sticker parts

(...) But that's different from parts authors being able to use bump mapping in a part file. Or specific colors actually being implemented as bumps/textures -- so 'rubber black' actually looks distinct from 'black'. (15 years ago, 16-Feb-10, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: "Dither" colors in patterned/sticker parts

(...) I was under the impression that LDView already uses bump mapping for the stud logos. Is that wrong? (15 years ago, 16-Feb-10, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  New Datsville Train Needed  [DAT]

Who wants to contribute? The official LEGO Model rjwmetro.ldr has to be replaced by a MOC. It is desireable to make it fit to Rjjtofc.ldr by James Jackson; his model has been pending for years.   Re: "Dither" colors in patterned/sticker parts

(...) If I'm not mistaken, two big pushes were made for texture mapping, in 2004 and 2007. Both failed because of too much committee, too little action. This after previous attempts were made, of course, but looking at LUGNET, that's when the big (...) (15 years ago, 16-Feb-10, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: "Dither" colors in patterned/sticker parts

(...) This is really interesting work. Just curious, but have you considered how you'd implement bump mapping as well? (Bump mapping would allow the "rough" texture on slopes, for instance.   Re: BTW, Dither What Colors...?

  Re: BTW, Dither What Colors...?

--SNIP-- (...) Good thinking. Since the old colours were derived from the EGA colour palette I reckon the dithers would have to be derived from it too. Otherwise you could end up with some very different blends. I like your signature ;) Tim (15 years ago, 12-Feb-10, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: Flex-system names

(...) To clarify this, the 5118 available in 1991 had the older cable links. 5118 bought in 1995 had the new version of the links (check the 1991 and 1995 service pack scans on Peeron). I should fix the LUGNET database. <sigh> -- joshuaD (15 years ago, 12-Feb-10, to lugnet.cad)

  Flex-system names

Hi guys, I'm a little confused with the Flex-System naming. We have Flex-System cables (342c01.dat). I found out about these parts' existence only recently on TBs and do not have any. But it seems it's some sort of pull/push mechanism. Then we have (...) (15 years ago, 11-Feb-10, to lugnet.cad)
