Re: Using Blender to animate Ldraw models

(...) Sorry, I didn't find anything to access that function. It might actually be neat to do at rendering stage, and a somewhat similar effect can be reached using subsurf and creases.. not quite right, though. (18 years ago, 15-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

Feature suggestion - auto-add optional line

If I have two triangles selected A-B-C and B-C-D adding a conditional/optional line primitive should pre-populate the dialog boxes with B-C-A-D (18 years ago, 17-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: Hangin' around

(...) I agree (mostly), which is why LDView doesn't support JPEG snapshots, even with color subsampling disabled. Implementing JPEG support would be fairly easy, but I've always felt that it wasn't appropriate. Having said that, I don't personally (...) (18 years ago, 16-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Hangin' around

(...) which IMO are so detrimental for all pictures containing high frequencies (=sharp edges). PNG is lossless, and doesn't generate anything like that. I know what I would use... JPEG is (maybe?) good for continous color changes, ie photos. (18 years ago, 15-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Hangin' around

(...) Hi Travis, I didn't realise that you could switch off parts of jpeg compression. Very handy to know. I didn't quite spell it out in my previous post but I actually meant for raytraced images rather than general renders. For edge-lined renders (...) (18 years ago, 16-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: Hangin' around

(...) In my experience JPEG versions of computer-generated pictures only really look good when you turn off color sub-sampling during the JPEG compression. Many (most?) programs that allow you to create JPEG images don't support this option. It also (...) (18 years ago, 15-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: Hangin' around

(...) Thanks! This is now my new desktop background (The skier really was out of season, but I hadn't found anything good enough to replace it with). (18 years ago, 14-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Hangin' around

(...) Hi Willy, I didn't realise you were using BMP format. If you don't already have a copy of (URL) ImageMagick convert> I can't recommend getting it enough. It is the most convenient conversion software ever if you use the command line and if (...) (18 years ago, 15-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: Hangin' around

(...) hmm ... the renderings are in .bmp and the zipper reduces file size from say 3841 KB to 1629 KB. I could convert them to .png while .jpg is out of question because of the artefacts. will take a bit though. w. (18 years ago, 15-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Hangin' around

(...) hi dave, I share the same feeling and my site is not supposed to behave in that way! could you please give me some extra information via email on the browser you are using, or the language set in your OS. to easy the usage for italian and (...) (18 years ago, 15-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Hangin' around

(...) Hi Willy, I forgot to mention it in my first post but having to download a zip of your wallpaper is quite annoying for me. You aren't going to be compressing a png or jpeg image much anyway (might even get bigger) so could I suggest replacing (...) (18 years ago, 15-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

(...) I dislike websites that don't allow the 'back' button to return you to the previous website visited. Other than that--nice pics! Dave K (18 years ago, 14-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Hangin' around

(...) It looks really cool, but I'm confused by the lighting. The diagonal swath of fog makes it look like there is a rather seriously bright light source somewhere on the ground. The diagonal shadow that the top climber is in lines up perfectly (...) (18 years ago, 14-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: Hangin' around

(...) As a former Climbing Instructor, I think this is particularly cool. I have been trying to find a good solution for buildng a LEGO climbing wall, and I am now kicking myself for not thinking of just making the walls "sideways' Well Done! Karl (18 years ago, 14-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: Hangin' around

Very cool. Ok, I live by the sea and get a vertigo above everything higher 2 meters, so maybe I'm not an expert in climbing. But the dramatic view of the picture is excellent. Very good application of virtual lego. And an additional extra bonus (...) (18 years ago, 14-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Hangin' around

Hi folks, have you ever heard of "El Capitan", "Matterhorn" or "Cerro Torre"? Ever seen Sly in "Cliffhanger" or Robin Tunney in "Vertical Limit? You're an adrenaline junkie or are at least heavily depending on fresh air? Then check out my latest (...) (18 years ago, 14-Aug-06, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.cad, FTX) !!
