Hi folks,
have you ever heard of El Capitan, Matterhorn or Cerro Torre? Ever
seen Sly in Cliffhanger or Robin Tunney in Vertical Limit? Youre an
adrenaline junkie or are at least heavily depending on fresh air? Then
check out my latest wallpaper - a tribute to all freeclimbers among us.
The hires renderings ready for download can be found in the wallpaper
section at http://www.holly-wood.it.
Enjoy!

Hi Willy,
I forgot to mention it in my first post but having to download a zip of your
wallpaper is quite annoying for me. You arent going to be compressing a png
or jpeg image much anyway (might even get bigger) so could I suggest
replacing the zips by the original images. Would make life much easy for
visitors to your site.

hmm ... the renderings are in .bmp and the zipper reduces file size from say
3841 KB to 1629 KB. I could convert them to .png while .jpg is out of question
because of the artefacts. will take a bit though.

Hi Willy,
I didnt realise you were using BMP format. If you dont already have a copy of
ImageMagick convert I cant
recommend getting it enough. It is the most convenient conversion software ever
if you use the command line and if combined with batch files or scripts like
perl is even better.
On the topic of jpegs, if you convert them at high enough quality (I use
-quality 90% setting from IM convert) I think they can actually look better than
lossless images because the compression rounds off some of the harsher lines in
the renders. I switched to using jpegs for all my wallpapers quite a while ago
and keep the png format for any further manipulation.

Many (most?) programs that allow you to create JPEG images don't support this option. It also (...) (18 years ago, 15-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad, FTX)
