  3d Video Rendering

I've been playing with Blender to create videos from LDraw Files. A fellow wrote a LDraw Import Script, so creation of the parts is easy, I just create my model in MLCad and import it, then I begin the animation and movement. It's not exactly (...) (19 years ago, 26-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad)

  Thoughts on specific current parts

Well, as there has not been an offical parts release since early 2004.. I was looking at a few parts and will be looking at their cousins. Namely the Pneumatic parts (which have been waiting for a rewrite). While I do not feel savy enough to (...) (19 years ago, 26-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Thoughts on File Format for LDraw Animation

(...) <snip> (...) One of the weaknesses of the LDraw file format is that part instances do not have names. This makes it impossible to modify attributes about the part instance. The closest thing we have to date is named groups provided by MLCad. (...) (19 years ago, 25-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: LSynth within LPub

(...) Thanks for the details on this one. You're sort of right. On single step pages, the callout counter must reset after each page (each step). For multi-step pages, though, we have multiple steps on a given page. In this case the callout counter (...) (19 years ago, 25-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LSC - current status?

(...) We have a motion on the table to approve this. It is in discussion now. (...) I'll have to defer to Steve and Chris on these two. (...) Kevin (19 years ago, 25-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Thoughts on File Format for LDraw Animation

One more thing I forgot to mention: I am a lowsy programmer, so don't judge the LDA project by looking at its interface. It it primarly for testing my theories to see if they work. Just like I don't think anyone uses original LDraw anymore, I really (...) (19 years ago, 25-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  LSC - current status?

dear LSC members, could you please keep me updated about the status of the following topics: * approval of the ldraw spec 1.0.0 * internationalization and localization of the part library * request for new offical meta command called INFO or HELP (...) (19 years ago, 25-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Anyone working on monorail tracks?

(...) Well, we traced over them today and the two parts do not match each other (i.e. they have slightly different radii and are not complimentary/mirror images of one another). Maybe this is true, but I suspect it's just the angle of the part in (...) (19 years ago, 25-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

Anyone want's me to their renderings ?

I have added to my weblog (URL) so go to my weblog please help to start a bussiness. thanks, sorry for doing publicity. (19 years ago, 24-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Anyone working on monorail tracks?

(...) I tilted the underside shots to show how the attachment points affect the framework, because it wouldn't be possible to see in a head on-shot (which would be pretty warped anyways). The distribution of the framework is excactly the same (...) (19 years ago, 24-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

Thoughts on File Format for LDraw Animation

1. .DAT Praises The DAT file and the possibility to use Type 1 lines in DAT files to call on other DAT files is so versatile, so brilliant, so LEGO. It's the foundation that has made LDraw The standard for virtual LEGO. There are details that (...) (19 years ago, 23-Oct-05, to lugnet.animation, lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: LSynth within LPub

(...) Hi Kevin, It seems the problem lies with callouts rather than the step. I think the callout counter might keep incrementing across steps rather than resetting. Try this file (URL) and you'll see. Tim (19 years ago, 23-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LSynth within MLCAD tutorial

(...) Hi Larry, I did attempt to follow your link, but unfortunately I get a "connection refused" for that link. Have you been slashdotted? Regards Danny -- (URL) - Build Robots (19 years ago, 22-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Anyone working on monorail tracks?

Thanks for that, I'll see what my students can do. Couple of questions/comments: The info scans are great because they show how the parts go together, as well as the undersides.. Unfortunately they're not so good for measuring because the extra (...) (19 years ago, 21-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

  Re: LSynth within LPub

(...) <snip> (...) No. LPub and MLCad uses the lsynth already on your computer. I highly recommend you work with LSynth in MLCad and get things like you like, and not use lsynth within LPub. (...) I've wrestled with this nasty problem a fair amount. (...) (19 years ago, 21-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LSynth within LPub

(...) Hi Tim, Please dig into this one. Is it maybe a trailing STEP with no parts after it? Kevin (19 years ago, 21-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Anyone working on monorail tracks?

Now the scans are finished, I thought that others might be interested to see them (at least when someone starts on the ldraw-version), so I've posted them in this BS folder earlier today: (URL) I've included some composite pictures with comments (...)   Re: LSynth within LPub

(...) Hi Kevin, Thanks once again for all your good work on LPub. Although I've not run any tests on it, I'd noticed this problem too. If you want me to check it out in any way just ask. Tim (19 years ago, 20-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LSynth within LPub

(...) Kevin, Another discovery: it appears that LPub does not want to call LSynth when the model contains no submodels, that is, when it is an .ldr file instead of a .mpd file. I eliminated the need for subparts and LSynth stopped running. When I (...) (19 years ago, 20-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LSynth within LPub

(...) Well, I think it would be reasonable to have a default value based on hose type, but allow the user to change it if they want (or need) to. The default should try to mimic the real hose as closely as possible. The problem with the pneumo hose (...) (19 years ago, 20-Oct-05, to lugnet.cad)
