  Surface-only convertion to POV-Ray

What tool would convert just the surface information from ldr to pov or lws? Would 3DWin do it? (19 years ago, 31-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Idea for better LEGO Factory building

(...) Ah, no, I'm sorry — I didn't test that part. I tested that you can load such a custom .tix file into LDD, add it to your active list just like one of the built-in part sets, and make use of it to build a model. I didn't test that LF will (...) (19 years ago, 31-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Reduced versions of BBB wheels

(...) Thanks Tim, yes I believe the originals are from a modelling tool. And I'll be first to admit, mine are not as accurate as the originals, I sacrificed accuracy for size. But they use a lot of primitives, which most LDraw renderers are able to (...) (19 years ago, 31-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

Re: Idea for better LEGO Factory building

(...) Joe, what did you test? Did you use this small file to try to upload a design to the gallery for others to buy? My concern is that might not work, I couldn't tell what you meant, but if you tested it, coolness! (19 years ago, 31-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Reduced versions of BBB wheels

(...) So thats what you and Tim were talkin about yesterday, I was most confused. Your new versions look as good as the originals, so the reduced file size was deinatly worth doing. The originals were huge (some sort of conversion from the CAD (...) (19 years ago, 31-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

Re: Idea for better LEGO Factory building

(...) (URL) BrickWiki> now has a page on (URL) Custom LDD Part Sets>. This has been tested and, apart from the custom icon, seems to work just fine. So now it would be even easier for someone to create part sets that correspond to the (URL) Factory (...) (19 years ago, 31-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Dinosaur Body Neck/Tail Ring (40375)

(...) Hi Matthew, I've begun one half of the body part some time ago. If you want, you could finish it. For some pictures look here: (URL) you are interested, I would send you the part. CU Bernd (19 years ago, 31-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Dinosaur Body Neck/Tail Ring (40375)  [DAT]

I needed the Dinosaur Neck Ring for a project I am working on so I designed it. It is my first part - fun stuff, I'll have to try another sometime. I have it submitted at ldraw.org, but I have a feeling the process is pretty slow to make it (...) (19 years ago, 31-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Reduced versions of BBB wheels

(...) Very cool. I had wanted to do that myself - thank you very much for taking the time. I've already put them in a project I'm working on... -Matt :) (...) (19 years ago, 31-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

Idea for better LEGO Factory building

Some enterprising ALEs have begun to make inventories of the parts bags actually used by LEGO Factory (see (URL) LEGO Factory on BrickWiki>). The brick sets available in LDD 1.4 are stored as simple XML files, human readable and editable. On the (...) (19 years ago, 31-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Reduced versions of BBB wheels

I recently created reduced versions of the BBB train wheels. You can download the LDraw parts files (URL) here> (just copy them to your parts directory and run mklist). Here is an example of how they render, alongside the BBB versions: (URL) (The (...) (19 years ago, 30-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: LDDP update (Was: "Y Column all zeroes")

(...) I'll look into this one. It probably stems from the routine used to determine if the first selected line is type 1 (...) I know why this one behave the way it does and I'll fix this. Thanks for the reports, please keep them coming. -Orion (19 years ago, 30-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Newbie questions about Lego CAD

Thanks for the fast repley (...) I also though doing this with submodels. But this way, each submodel will have it's one step numbers, meaning that the steps of each submodell will beginn with 1. In the offical LEGO BI (see) both, the chassis and (...) (19 years ago, 30-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Overview of LEGO Factory suggestions

(...) Hundreds of dollars is what it should cost. What it would actually cost under the current LF system, even if the parts were available at all, would probably be thousands of dollars. I'm seeing about a factor of 25 waste here on realistic (...) (19 years ago, 30-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: My humble opinion about LDraw animation

(...) First I should apologise if I sounded harsh - I have spent the last few months of my day-job dealing with a nightmare UI built by other coders with absolutely no end-user consultation. So I recognised similar patterns and had already gotten (...) (19 years ago, 30-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.animation)
