I recommend that you put the chassis as a sub-model relative to the main model. You can either do this using separate files, or you could use MPD.

Use Multipart ->New model to start on the superstructure.

Also make sure the superstructure model is listed before the chassis, as the top most level must be first in the file (see Multipart->Model Sequence to modify the order).

I also though doing this with submodels. But this way, each submodel will have it’s one step numbers, meaning that the steps of each submodell will beginn with 1. In the offical LEGO BI (see) both, the chassis and the superstructure, are in the mainmodel, only the arm with the shovel has it’s own steps. Well, in this case, it’s only a cosmetic issue, but it could be important in some situations.

PLIST metacommand is depricated.

Is there something like a reference (aside from the documentation),maybe with some small examples? Using the meta commets is a lot of trail and error for me (and I’m sure for other newbies, too)

Create a Multipart->New Model that contains the two halves of the turntable merged as one part. Call this sub-model turntable.ldr

Then try this:

0 LPUB PLI BEGIN SUB turntable.ldr

blah

0 0 LPUB PLI END

I’ve just created two test files, one with, one without part substitution, The file without part sub works just fine. With the other file something goes wrong. First of all, the wohle process last unusally long. And the images rendered are really strange. the PL-Box is much to large, but don’t contains the image for the turntable at all. I’ve forgot to mention that the turntable is stored as a submodel, and this submodel should be displayed as a callout. Maybay this causes the trouble.

Here are the pictures and the two mpd-files, where test2.mpd is with parts sub, test1.mpd without.

(...) I'm still working on this modell, slow, but sure.. I've found a solution for the above problem: I 'created' a dat-file for the complete turntable. Well, 'created' is a bit exaggerated, I just 'hacked' the both part-files via copy&paste to a (...) (19 years ago, 2-Sep-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)
