Re: LDraw Animation - Why MPD?

(...) I think you may need to explain you choices further. Python supports variable numbers of function arguments, as does Perl. In Python it is relatively easy to check the types of the arguments, and implement overloading and type checking inside (...) (19 years ago, 30-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: How do I get these new applications working?

(...) I'm glad you got it working. I am also glad that you had the patience to fix it. Now we know we have to fix the distribution. I wonder how many people just gave up. Chris (19 years ago, 30-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

Re: My humble opinion about LDraw animation

(...) How are keyframes internally structured and saved to disk? Are they arrays, hashes, and how is the interpolation between keyframes usually handled? I haven't had time to research it myself, and I'm not sure I would even be able to find the (...) (19 years ago, 30-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.animation)

Re: LDraw Animation - Why MPD?

I wonder if anyone remembers the 80s game "Story Machine" from Spinnaker Software (publishers of "Face Maker" and other silly products.) This program acted out the sentences you typed in. It was a kind of self-illustrating text adventure. For (...) (19 years ago, 30-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: LDraw Animation - Why MPD?

Why not develop something abstract. If you come up with a way to notate an animation in any langauge, perhaps it will catch on. James (...) (19 years ago, 30-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: How do I get these new applications working?

(...) Short Answer: That's how it's programmed. In order to really display a model made with references to parts in its enclosing folder, we have to make a number of decidedly unpleasant assumptions. Firstly, we have to assume the referenced parts (...) (19 years ago, 30-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac, FTX)

Re: LDraw Animation - Why MPD?

(...) (* off-topic discussion *) Design and implementation are not as independant as i wish. As part of the design requirements, i pointed moves should be functions and be as composable as functions are. Practically that means the language must (...) (19 years ago, 29-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Overview of LEGO Factory suggestions

OK, we've all had some time to play with LF and the new LDD now. I think it's time to try and compose a clear, well-thought-ought "dear LEGO" letter explaining whatever seems to be in the way of this being a successful program. It may be that LEGO (...)   Re: Crazy idea for third-party Factory-like service

(...) Heh...yeah, clearly it needs some updating. Honestly, I sorta lost interest when I couldn't get any feedback or help from Bricklink - that was the lynchpin in the system and without it, it was tough to make much more happen. Of course, that (...) (19 years ago, 29-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst, FTX)

Re: Newbie questions about Lego CAD

(...) I recommend that you put the chassis as a sub-model relative to the main model. You can either do this using separate files, or you could use MPD. Use Multipart ->New model to start on the superstructure. Also make sure the superstructure (...) (19 years ago, 29-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Crazy idea for third-party Factory-like service

  Newbie questions about Lego CAD

Any FPS or RTS AFOL modders out there?

I like acronyms...anyways... I'm working on BrickSpace, and now BrickFire. Also trying to learn C so I can write my own FPS and RTS, but that's a bit longer term. Right now, I'm wondering if among our fine ranks there are any of you who are modders, (...) (19 years ago, 29-Aug-05, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.gaming, FTX)
