Re: Are any of these parts available as .dat files?

(...) Duuuudde!! That sounds so totally awesome... -Scott (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.inst)

  New Mecha and LDraw File

Hi all! I'm back to building with LEGO again. To all the MOC posters, sorry for the lack of replies, but please know that I do check out everything that you build and greatly admire your creations. Now that it's summer break, I'll have more time to (...) (21 years ago, 27-Jun-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.cad.dat.models, FTX) !

Re: Minifig Generator Plugin for LDDesignPad Version 1.6

(...) Well, looking at the LDraw.ini, it apppears that we could swap over to using it. -Orion (21 years ago, 27-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: portable version of mklist?

(...) According to my "Sent Items" folder I sent mklist13.zip including both mklist.c and mklist.exe to you at July 3rd, 2000. On your request I resent it to you on May 14th, 2002. And today I'll send it for the third time :-) /Lars (21 years ago, 27-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Minifig Generator Plugin for LDDesignPad Version 1.6

(...) Hey, I'm with you. ldglite checks the environment variables first, then looks in the <windir>/ldraw.ini file before using a default. env_str = platform_getenv("LDRAWDIR"); if (env_str != NULL) strcpy(pathname, env_str); else if (...) (21 years ago, 27-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

Hi Allan, You can find pictures of your (lovely!) model here: (URL) (21 years ago, 27-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

(...) No magic involved here. Best way is to be inspired by real photos. Take a good look at a picture you like (or where you like the lighting) and try to figure out where the light s coming from and where the camera was placed. A rough guide: (...) (21 years ago, 27-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: easy pattern creator?

(...) Well, what can one say? You convinced me. Both your ratio and my urge to sometime create an 'official' brick. So, there I went, creating patterns by hand, byte by byte. Sure it was fun, but also took lots of concentration and time. All I did (...) (21 years ago, 27-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Feature Suggestion

(...) If you could somehow inline-insert such 'submodels' it would be fine, too. Niels (21 years ago, 27-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: LDD Introductions

I downloaded LDD immediately at the time, but I didn't get to responding before. My main regret is that the system requirements and program size (download time) are so bloatingly huge. After I dowloaded the whole thing and installed it, I was (...) (21 years ago, 27-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.lego.direct, FTX)

Re: Minifig Generator Plugin for LDDesignPad Version 1.6

(...) Was there some reason that y'all didn't use <windir>\ldraw.ini? If for nothing else, it has the ldraw path. Steve (21 years ago, 27-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dev)

LDraw & POV Parts (was: Re: Questions: 12 volt train track parts)

(...) Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I *like* renderings with edgelines. They are very useful for building instructions, but even for non-building instruction images, the edgelines appeal to me. Maybe I've watched too many cartoons in my life. :) I'm (...) (21 years ago, 27-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

(...) Hi Jeroen, (...) In fact, I dropped down to using radio_1. I'm not interested in 100% realistic pics, but I knew that what I was producing could look better. Thanks for the advice though. :) (...) light. Is there some magical way in which you (...) (21 years ago, 27-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

(...) Actually, as long as you are rendering your file manually in POV, you can delete all of those command line options. There're really only used by LPub with it's generating instruction images and LPub will add them back in automatically. -Orion (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: Feature Suggestion

(...) What I have done sometimes with an assembly of parts I use often is "hand" make the model in MLCAD and save it in the Models folder. When I want to use it in another model, I select Multipart>Import Model and choose the pre-made model. HTH, (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Re: Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

(...) D'oh! I'm such an idiot. I was so busy trying to find it in the code, I didn't even think to look on the interface for it. Thank you so much for saving my sanity! (...) Currently (with no manual intervention from me) it reads: LPub +W800 +H600 (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Re: Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

(...) L3P generates color definitions based on the colors in your model. These are usually towards the top of the file after some declare statements. If you add the line: #include "lugnetcolors.inc" after the rad file include you should be good. If (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Re: Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

(...) Yes, you got it exactly <snip> (...) In POV there should be a little drop down list in the upper left. It'll have something like 600x800, A.A. 0.3 displayed. This is where you set the picture size. Also, if there are any +W or +H commands in (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Re: Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

(...) On your site, you mention the following: The declaration of this file should be made just before the color declares in you POV model file. Based on previous suggestions, I'm now using radio-1.inc for the radiosity settings etc. It includes an (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Re: Questions: 12 volt train track parts

(...) This seems ok to me in theory: quick ldraw parts and more detailed ray trace parts. The practice however brings up the question how are we going to build up and maintain a quality ray traceable parts library. LGEO or Anton's or .... (and how (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad)
