Re: Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

(...) It seemed to be going along well, so I left it overnight. However this morning it appeared to have stopped. The clock on POV-RAY was still running, but the PPS rate was 0. :( (...) I found that file. Do I need to edit it? I've found the spot (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

(...) <snipped> (...) Hi Allan, First of all, please do use the radio_2 settings. Radio_3 uses extreme high radiosity settings and radio_2 is a bit more CPU-friendly. Changes are that you'll get some artifacts (strange dark patches) but then, (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray)

(...) Well, just to warn you.. This picture: (URL) Took this long to render: (URL) On rad level 3 with a P4 2.0 GHz with 1MB of DDR333 RAM. Your's shouldn't take nearly that long since it is a much smaller file. (...) Yes they do alter some of the (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Re: Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

(...) I grabbed those files. I started it again with radio-3.inc and only a couple of my original lights. The radio file seems to include an ambient light setting, but by itself this still seemed a bit dark. I also commented out the line that (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Re: LDraw-to-Raves (was: POV in Part)

(...) Hmm, that would be true - if the wrappers use the same names as L3P generates (so the object for the 2x4 brick would be named 3001_dot_dat). Right now, they don't - the names are like ar_3001. Even so, changing '3001_dot_dat' to (...) (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

(...) Have a look at Jeroen's POV Radiosity includes at (URL) It's great, despite the long render times. --Orion (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

I've been working at rendering a more realistic version of my little 4-wide fire engine. I've gotten it to look much better than my first attempts, which did not use radiosity and were quite cartoonish. So... here's where I'm at so far: (URL) think (...)   Re: Feature Suggestion

(...) Well, that was my suggestion about: placing the parts (like a windowframe and it's panes and shutters) without having to move the panes and shutters to their positions by hand. Niels (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: Feature Suggestion

Hello Niels Place the parts in your model as you like. Then select all desired parts holding the control-key down. Then move the selection arround. When using Control-D the selected parts are duplicated all on te same position and you can place all (...) (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Re: Questions: 12 volt train track parts

I put some questions on my questions page about metal pieces: (URL) Bliss replied to those: (...) When I look at a real piece I see a hollow metal bar and a bar with a connector that fits in the hollow bar of an adjecant part. To match real (...) (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Are any of these parts available as .dat files?

<snip> (...) Wow, thanks! I really appreciate the hard work that you have put into this. I am in the process of modeling/making insturctions for an MOC that I made of Crush from Finding Nemo. It is built entirely with pieces from 4101 Wild (...) (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: portable version of mklist?

(...) A quick check reveals the source I used was from mklist.c v1.2 That's the one included in the zip file inside ldraw027.exe and complete.exe. Oddly, I noticed that ldraw027.exe includes the v1.3 executable with the -i and -o options, but the (...) (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: MBC 0.6.1 comments

(...) Actually, I'd prefer it if you just make a separate .sit (or zip) file with source and put it in the same folder on the internet as the executable program. That way anybody can look at it. You never know when someone might come from nowhere (...) (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

(...) Well, maybe you would know for sure, but not me :) (...) Just out of curiosity, disabling GL_Lighting before drawing lines is slower because you still have to do lighting anyway, and if it isn't GL_LIGTHING, then it is going to be slower? I (...)   Re: portable version of mklist?

(...) It doesn't appear to do anything with -i or -o command line options. Is there a newer version of the source, or were you asking me to add that? I only changed two lines of mklist.c (the rest was done in the missing include files), so it should (...) (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dev)

I'll intersperse my answer with Don's observations. (...) You're dead right there - actually I've never considered altering GL_LIGHTING for Type 2 lines, it makes good sense. Actually I haven't altered the parsing and rendering routines since about (...) (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

Re: UPDATE Re: vose inspection car render

(...) Hi Rick and others, After reading your post, I took the challenge to make a render as realistic as the above mentioned picture. I took a standard LEGO engine from the 7xxx serie and placed it on a 9V track. If you look close to the Royal Train (...) (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray)
