Re: When (if) to use optional lines?

(...) Hi Lance, I asked the same question last summer and since then have come to realize optional lines are useful. Here's the thread to my original question (and the many replies): (URL) a thread on how optional lines help smoothing algorithms: (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad.dev)

When (if) to use optional lines?

I am just about to finish development of a fairly complicated piece (24-tooth gear with 3 axlesholes), and in looking at previous posts and documentation I have seen some talk about optional lines. Currently I have not used them at all. What are the (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Need for rect primitive with two or one edge?

Assuming these don't already exist (I looked for rect2.dat on Parts Tracker, but could find nothing -- speaking of which, the "complete" unofficial parts zip seems to be out of date, since it is missing some stuff): Would it be reasonable to create (...)   [PT]: Comments on updated 7026.dat

(URL) suggest it should be renamed to 7026cc01.dat to conform to Steve's own suggestions in an earlier thread. Description should be: "Window Classic 1 x 2 x 2 Short Ledge" Error: Short ledge should not be pointy. Comment: I doubt that thick walls (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: POV 3.5, Radiosity, and Multiple Passes??

(...) You are almost right, the correct vector should be rgb <0.975, 0.975, 0.900>. Thanks, Jeroen (22 years ago, 30-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: LDRAW and Blender

Matthew, I was wondering when someone would develop an import routine for Blender. I have used and known about Blender for some time. Over time, I would not be surprised to see the community embrace Blender as its favorite renderer even over POVRAY (...) (22 years ago, 30-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  LDRAW and Blender

Hi all --- I am currently working on an LDRAW to Blender importer written in Python. For those of you who have never heard of Blender, it is a free, open source 3d modeler and renderer that includes a Python API (see it at www.blender.org). For (...) (22 years ago, 29-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  CAD instructions for racing carts

Hello, This is my first post to .town after being an intermittent lurker for a few months (I don't stop by as often as I'd like, what with all the activity in .space :^).   Re: LPub 2.1.0.6 Available

Re: Method for splitting quads with not coplanar vertices?

(...) You are right, ther are way to automatically fix the problem. But one noncoplaner quad can cause many such errors on quads that are perfectly fine. Therefore the bast way to fix this will most likely always be to manually find and corrent the (...) (22 years ago, 29-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: POV 3.5, Radiosity, and Multiple Passes??

Got it! Actually, it wasn't the L3P colors, it was the color inc file Jeroen mailed me. He found the bug and mailed me a fix (which I fwd'ed to you and the others I have send this file to). I looked at the file on my spare computer, and there it (...) (22 years ago, 29-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: LPub 2.1.0.6 Available

Re: POV 3.5, Radiosity, and Multiple Passes??

You are probably going to kick yourself for this one. You're right about the color white, but it has to do with how you defined it. The rgb had one too many values: rgb <0.975, 0.975, 0, 900> instead of: rgb <0.975, 0.975, 0> :) Thanks for the (...) (22 years ago, 29-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: POV 3.5, Radiosity, and Multiple Passes??

  Re: Zoom in "View" mode?

(...) What about running an external viewer program in polling mode during your MLCAD session for those quick zooms and odd viewing angles that might be difficult to achieve with MLCAD?   Re: Zoom in "View" mode?

(...) You cannot. View mode will always "zoom to fit (the complete) model" automatically. If your specific problem comes from the fact that in the initial steps of a large model, the parts are too small to make out, you can use submodels to work (...)
