  Re: Some pov-ray questions

(...) On second thoughts, you can do this in POV-Ray, without the use of a .BAT file. What you need to do is simply to make a dummy .POV file in which you put an indexed table of your 1500 .POV files. Then you put som code into this dummy file which (...)   Re: Baseplates with pattern

  Re: Why Type 5 Lines?

(...) I believe that there are other ways to put these lines in, as long as you are *only* planning on using them to show the 'visible' edge of a curved surface. This is actually a question I've been meaning to ask around here, Have type5 lines been (...) (23 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: question on a model

(...) Sorry - no can do the ldraw option. However, if you email me your mailing address (my hotmail address is fine to use), I will mail you a copy of the instructions I used to build it. - Bob (23 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

  Re: Baseplates with pattern

(...) First, make a plain version of the part, and call it 6092.dat. For LDraw, we always include a plain version of parts, even if LEGO never released the part without a pattern. (...) Once you've got a plain 6092.dat, copy the file to 6092p01.dat. (...) (23 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Female Ldraw Parts

(...) In general, save the files to C:\ldraw\parts\, with the extension .DAT. In MLCAD, use File | Scan Parts to make sure MLCAD knows about the file(s) you downloaded. For other programs, run the utility c:\ldraw\mklist.exe to rebuild the parts (...) (23 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Creating Building Instructions for LARGE 40x40+ baseplate models

Has anyone created building instructions using MEGA-POV, POV or something else for big models? I've been sucessful so far using the following combination for small/medium models: 1) Create in Ldraw (.ldr) 2) Convert using L3PAO (.pov) 3) Render (...)   Re: Why Type 5 Lines?

(...) On the contrary, I think that type-5 lines are very useful, and an interesting solution. They are a nice way to make sure that rounded objects are outlined with a contrasting colour, no matter where the viewpoint is. The rendering of cylinders (...)   Re: Why Type 5 Lines?

(...) I'm not sure how to quantify 'usefulness' of a line command. If you want to make outlines on simulated curved surfaces in LDraw, conditional lines are vital. I can't think of another to accomplish this task. And making the outlines is fairly (...) (23 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Baseplates with pattern

(...) Unless the color makes up 95%+ of the stud, I don't think this would be a good approach. (...) I don't think LEGO's pattern will cooperate with us to make neat sections of studs. So I don't think this approach would really work. Also, thinking (...) (23 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Why Type 5 Lines?

What is the point of Type 5 lines? It seems to me that they are a confusing and clunky method to display lines for the visible edges of rounded objects when having no line at all would be just as visually correct (and less taxing on the brain to (...) (23 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Auto changing of the Name block in a .DAT/.LDR file

I've become slighly annoyed with the fact that when I open and then save a .DAT file the NAME block in the file gets changed to *.ldr. I've been using MLCad to do part authoring anbd the Parts Tracker will not accept anything other than a *.dat in (...) (23 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: Baseplates with pattern

(...) Hi all, I know this problem and I think the solutions could be: 1) You take the color which covers the most of the stud. 2) We need to make a half (resp. quarter) stud that could be colored in different colors. Let me know, what you think (...) (23 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
