  Re: Screensaver anyone?

(...) Combine the fullscreen mode with a generic screen saver and you now have what you're looking for. A quick search for "generic screen saver" turns up AnyServer and perhaps several others that will let you use any executable as a screen saver. (...) (24 years ago, 12-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  different idea for cockpit

(If you reply to this message, please follow-up to the appropriate, specific newsgroup. Thanks. :-) I came up with what I thought was an unusual orientation for a cockpit for a spaceship or mecha. I quickly built a set of mecha legs for it, and (...) (24 years ago, 12-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

  Re: License - again

(...) I've written some thoughts further down in this thread, but what I know about license details I'll write here (but hasn't this been gone over before?) GPL infects derivative works. LGPL need not. If you want to prohibit commercialization, take (...) (24 years ago, 12-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: MOTM (Was:Cathedral of Ice)

  Re: License - again

(...) Pardon me for jumping into the middle here, but as an application developer, this is my statement on this point: I've put in about a hundred hours into my parts-using app BrickDraw3D. I'm willing to give the program away but not on GPL terms. (...) (24 years ago, 12-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  MOTM (Was:Cathedral of Ice)

  Re: Part rotation point

I thought it this way: o Each part can have several custom rotation points - each with a different name for the user o The user can select the general rotation point strategy (e.g. world origine, part center ... part rotation point). o Here I (...) (24 years ago, 12-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Ray-Tracing Beginner

I know there are a bunch of tutorials and such but I'm still confused. I use MLCad to create my .dat files but that's as far as I go. 1) What are the [minimum number of] and [simplest] programs to create high-quality renderings with? 2) Where/what (...)   Re: Interior shots of Cathedral of Ice

By the way, I'm still happy to distribute the .dat files by email if anyone wants them. There are quite a few sub-models now. (24 years ago, 12-Dec-00, to lugnet.build, lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.build.arch)

Interior shots of Cathedral of Ice

Previously, my Cathedral of Ice was just a thin shell of bricks with no significant interior. Now, I've added a full interior and posted several pictures. Here is the master index (including both interior and exterior shots): (URL) pictures are (...) (24 years ago, 12-Dec-00, to lugnet.build, lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.build.arch)

  Re: License - again

(...) Right. And that's my problem with GPL in a nutshell. It leaks into stuff. Now, we've reasonably outlined how the parts license doesn't leak into stuff like published designs, renderings, instruction sets, etc. But if licensing the parts (...) (24 years ago, 12-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Screensaver anyone?

Hi, as the author of LDView, I've got two things to add. First, since LDView is not an actual screensaver, you would have no way of having it come on automatically. However, as Calvin pointed out, it will run full-screen. In addition, it supports (...) (24 years ago, 12-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: License - again

(...) I'm not absolutely convinced that it's good to require any program which uses the library to be GPLed, but what I am absolutely convinced is that we don't want to restrict a program which uses a proprietary file format and parts library from (...)   Part rotation point

I noticed one of Marc Klein's parts had comments for a part rotation point. I assume this is because he used MLCad to open the part and saved it. It got me thinking, though. What if a part file had extended commands for custom part rotation points (...) (24 years ago, 12-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)
