  Implementing LDS in LDAO

(...) Probably. That's why I prefer the LDS way :) Also, with LDS you don't have to create separate source files. (...) I guess it would look something like the LDS Shell. An editor (like LDAO Editor) to the left and a rendering window to the (...) (24 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Darth Maul minifig head - hints and tips?

ACK! That's gonna be a toughie! Good luck. One of my little "secrets" is that I often "draw" the face in a two-dimensional image (i.e., Z = -13 for all points on this preliminary image), and then check the "Front View" box in MLCAD to make sure the (...)   Re: File Naming Protocol for Patterned Parts

(...) Interesting. I like the idea. One (semi-related) thought, though... *Where* are all these meta-statements documented? Is the location/URL of this documentation readily available to *new* (or forgetful) LCAD authors? Lately, I answered several (...) (24 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

I feel a little uneasy about the possible conflict between the first and third usages - with the benefit of hindsight might (...) (24 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: File Naming Protocol for Patterned Parts

This is a proposal for a new meta-statement/header line for parts files. I'm hanging this off the pattern-id discussion, because it relates to patterned parts. The basic idea is this: right now, there are three ways to see if there is a relation (...) (24 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Darth Maul minifig head - hints and tips?

Just to let everyone know I'm tentatively starting the Darth Maul head, but as it's my first attempt at a part I'm going to wait until I've finished before sorting out the pattern number as I may not get chance to complete it. I've already done 1/4 (...) (24 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: File Naming Protocol for Patterned Parts

Forward: I'd rather stick with using P as the patterned-element designator. Add letters to the suffix, to allow up to 1296 patterns per part. If this is not enough, then define another letter-designator in addition to the P. If we get 1500 patterns (...) (24 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: LDS Poll

(...) I've thought about doing something like this. How would you want to see LDS linked to LDAO? (...) Highlight, push to subfile, Undo (ctrl-Z), add new line to ref. subfile, invert appropriate components, Inline. I think it takes longer to write (...) (24 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad)

Finally Perfect-- UCS X-wing canopy (without decals pattern)  [DAT]

Here, as promised, is the "naked" UCS X-wing canopy. Again, this time no subparts. This is a regular old .dat file fit to stuff in your parts directory. Again, as always, LMKWYT. "Parts are never finished... just abandoned" - some guy Tim Romine (...) (24 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Finally Perfect-- UCS X-wing canopy (with decals pattern)  [DAT]

OK, folks. I've learned a lot since I first made this part, and now I have "fixed" everything (I think...). Now no subparts are required, and I removed the "no-no's" (type 2 lines outlining the patterns). This part is just an ordinary .dat file now, (...)   Re: File Naming Protocol for Patterned Parts

(...) Rather than the suggestion of using alpha characters, in the "pattern number", have we considered allowing other characters in the sixth position - so we allow nnnnnp00-nnnnnp99 nnnnnq00-nnnnnq99, nnnnnr00-nnnnnr99, etc as valid patterned part (...) (...) You think YOU'RE happy? I'm ecstatic! WooHoo! I've loved MLCad from the first moment I saw it, and after I downloaded it (version 1.9R4) I loved it even more! Then came version 1.99R1, and now that MLCad supports modelling primitives so much (...) (24 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev)
