  My Mecha's Head  [DAT]

I got hit by builder's block while working on my mech a while ago. I was very unhappy with the Torso, and I couldn't visualize the legs. After demolishing the torso and staring at the pieces, I decided to try a new tack, and work on the head. After (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.ideas)

  Re: '59 Caddy Hovercar Raytraces

(...) Thanks! (...) I'd love to see other people take a shot at it! (I wonder if all those pieces exist in pink? It looks fine in white, too, which is the RL color of the model) --Bram Bram Lambrecht / o o \ BramL@juno.com (...) (...) a (...) No. (...) OK, I'll email the file to you (or if there's enough interest, I'll offer a 1024x768 for download) (...) White works fine too. If you ahve trouble finding 1x1 bricks w/ five studs in white, don't panic. I used gray. --Bram (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: 71184 Bar 4.5L Straight is too short

(...) I hope the added length doesn't mess up any models... (but I suppose the short version made some of my models look weird on other people's machines :) (...) I'm flattered. Maybe I should attempt a complete part sometime. --Bram Bram Lambrecht (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Subparts for Black Falcon and Wolfpack Patterns ?

When I fix the bowties in the Black Falcon and Wolfpack shields (this weekend), would it be more sensible to make each pattern a subpart (or two), which could be shared between shields, torsos and flags, scaled appropriately? If I had done this to (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Horse Progress Report

(...) Just try not to make a mesh of things. (...) I've taken two or three horses apart. Be a bit careful, to avoid marring the edges where the two halves come together. Steve (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: BFC checking program (was Re: Some Words To BFC)

(...) Umm, it's a little more than that, but facing the faces is a very important part. Basically, I meant: 1. All polygons wound correctly 2. All subfile references clean Good point about primitives not being solid. I don't think a renderer (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Is James' website finally gone for good?

(...) Sure. They said they'd be in contact with me as soon as they returned, so I'll bring it up then. -Tim (URL) timcourtne ICQ: 23951114 (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: LDRAW Troubles

(...) I had the same problem when I upgraded to a faster computer. I couldn't solve the problem, but then I thought: "Why should I? I never use LDraw.exe or LEdit anymore." Now I use LDLite exclusively instead. /Tore (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: BFC: LITS 2

(...) Yes, it did. But I'm pretty sure that all important topics have been addressed (or re-addressed) since that thread started. (...) Yes, and today it will change to version 10. But version 4 was a big rewrite, where the language changed from (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: BFC: LITS 2

(...) Actually, the problem is that their determinant is 0, neither positive nor negative. So the renderer would have to disable BFC processing for any file with this kind of reference. Another problem (that L3P handles in most cases) is that (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: BFC: LITS 2

(...) Oh, good. :) I wasn't sure before, but after posting a follow-up to John today, I figured it out. Now, about those transparent parts with decorations... Steve (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: BFC: LITS 2

(...) I think we're using different meanings here. By 'local clipping', I mean the clip-setting in a subfile disappears when that subfile is finished. It is not carried back up to the superfile, and it is not reinstated if the same subfile is used (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  LDRAW Troubles

I have LDRAW, downloaded from LDRAW.org, and I keep getting a runtime error 200. I downloade and ran the patch that the site has. Still doesn't work. Any advice? (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: BFC: LITS 2

(...) Unless we have a solution to the invert case, the document's assertion is correct. (...) I think you are correct that NOWIND/UNKNOWN is not important/needed. For now, let's proceed assuming that decorations will be handled by using NOCLIP or (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: BFC: LITS 2

(...) I've kept thinking about it, and I don't see a solution. There are some algorithms that can figure out the normal/inverted question in some cases, but these algorithms would be too slow to implement in a rendering program. And they are not (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

this is quite cool, bram. i particularly like the use of pink elements and the bubble over the cockpit/driver's seat. it opens up a whole new range of possibilities (flying versions of classic cars). good stuff! ..joseph g (...)   Re: Is James' website finally gone for good?

(...) Tim, do you want to ask them, as the head honcho of ldraw.org content? Jacob, do you have a copy of James' site-files? I do, if you don't. Oops--I just checked, his site is back online. But maybe it makes sense to have a permanent mirror in (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)
