You should all read this (was Re: We need a new curator) —Tony Knaak
(...) Hoooly crap! Someone finally had the balls to say it! I have been wanting to rant about this, but I figured everyone would think I am a jerk off. Now I get to prove it :D Anyway to my point... Scenerio: Lets say a guy, I will name him Bob, Say (...) (22 years ago, 9-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

(...) just made [1]. It seems to be happening more and more, not just in .mecha, but everywhere else as well - Someone will post a MOC, and just recieve the "hey, that's cool!" message six times over. I'm just wondering what's causing this. Apathy? (...) (22 years ago, 9-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

In lugnet.build.mecha, Tony Knaak writes: <snip> (...) I agree. The lack of contructive criticism is a problem. Although I think a part of the problem might be on the builder's part, as well. Some people can't take criticism, and if they get just (...) (22 years ago, 9-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.general)

Re: You should all read this (was Re: We need a new curator) —Allister McLaren
(...) God bless you Tony. That was a wonderful post. I'm farily new to LUGNET, but not to the creative process, and in the above passage there is an important lesson that any creative person (ie. everyone on LUGNET) needs to learn. That lesson can (...) (22 years ago, 9-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: You should all read this (was Re: We need a new curator) —Soren Roberts
Yeah, this ticks me off. I post a folder full of stuff, and I get plenty of praise but no real help or suggestions. Don't get me wrong, I like you guys, but I also want to learn from you. I don't see that happening right now, and it's a damn shame. (...) (22 years ago, 9-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Let's get some Good Feedback - Brutal Honesty makes a better builder - —Eric Sophie
So alot has been going on I see. Great! I was up all night a few nights ago packing my Mecha for BW03 and it wiped me out. I think I have been sleeping for two days now. I feel alot better and I have been giving some thought to this thread as I have (...) (22 years ago, 9-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Let's get some Good Feedback - Brutal Honesty makes a better builder - —Brian Cooper
It is difficult to say whether criticism in this realm is constructive. This issue gets to the core of the building process. My constructions have naturally become better over time as my brain has developed better neural connections for building. To (...) (22 years ago, 10-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Let's get some Good Feedback - Brutal Honesty makes a better builder - —Ross Crawford
(...) I'd probably agree with that statement, however that doesn't mean it provides *no* help - I think criticism often leads one to experiment with new techniques, and to a degree, I think that can help one's building skill (make nueral connections (...)          Re: Let's get some Good Feedback - Brutal Honesty makes a better builder - —Geordan Hankinson
(...) This is true to a degree, but constructive criticism is a part of it to some extent. I had been building mecha for about 8 months when someone told me that my proportions were wrong. I would never have noticed it by myself, or if I did it (...) (22 years ago, 10-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

         Re: teaser —Brian Cooper
(...) Here you go then: (URL) managed to make a tight enough interconnection between four turntables and two throwbot gearboxes to make a new hip joint with full gear control of all movement. I actually wasn't intending to build a gundam and was (...) (22 years ago, 12-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: You should all read this (was Re: We need a new curator) —Dave Johann
(...) Excellent point, Mark! This is one of the primary reasons that I don't post to every mecha I see-I don't wish to be percieved as a 'Cool creation, dude!' kinda' guy. Single sentence posts that offer no CONSTRUCTIVE criticism are essentially (...) (22 years ago, 10-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)
