Say, is there a good guide around anywhere to mech terminology, especially
weapon types?

One of the notations I've seen a lot of, for instance, is "SRM##", where the
##'s seem to be the count of rockets (i.e., SRM8 or SRM20).  At this point,
I can only guess it stands for (something) Rocket Module...

It's generally a good idea to refrain from using the term "mech" in public
postings... "Mech" is a trademark owned by FASA (the makers of the rediculously
bad Battletech series of miniature wargames) derived from the word
"BattleMech". They are known to be absolutely Draconian in the enforcement of
their trademarks... even going so far as to threaten to sue people who use
"Mech" in postings to non-sanctioned newsgroups & mailing lists!  Generally,
they are an obnoxious and offensive company (but that's just my opinion :)
considering that for years, they sold a "Star Trek" miniatures game without a
license from Paramount to do so and that the artwork for the original 12
"Mechs" in the first edition BattleTech game were directly stolen from the
anime series "SD Space Fortress Macross" and "SD Cavalry Southern Cross"
without any credit (let alone royalties) given to their designers.

Anyway, the term "mecha" derived by the Japanese from the term "mechanized" is
much cooler sounding and more general in its application.
