Short Range Missle.  As opposed to Long Range Missile.  The number does indeed
designate how many.

It's from Battletech.  Well, unless they took it from someplace else.

Mmmm...  the Vulture outfitted with 6 SRM-6 Streaks was always my favorite at
Virtual World's Battletech arenas... (www.virtualworld.com, last time I
checked).
