On ColinG's page mecha page,

   http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Saturn/5559/mecha.html

he's got things like AW-42, AW-90, BA-100, BA-13, FAW-16, LGAW-20, and AW-32A.
Do the letters and numbers mean anything or is their purpose decorative?

That's a designation system I came up with for the BeltWars universe.
Some are more obvious than others.  I've been lazy about putting the
explanations for these on my website.

Standard:
AW--Armored Walker
BA--Battle Armor
F--Fighter (aerospace)
SR--Scouting/Reconnaisance (aerospace)
ZG--Zero Gravity (space fighters)
Special Purpose:
FAW--Flight-capable Armored Walker
LGAW--Low Gravity Armored Walker

BTW, I'm in love with the last photo on this page:

   http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Saturn/5559/cestus.html

(The minifig servicing the arm with the door-hatch open.  :-)

Thanks!  I thought that one came out pretty well, too.
