Re: Most Inspiring Anime/Manga Poll —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) Robotech, man! :-, Then Go-Bots and Transformers (blech now), and Battletech later, though since early Battletech stole mucho from Robotech (which in turn stole mucho from Macross and Mospeda) I feel I can't really count that. I also got a (...) (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Most Inspiring Anime/Manga Poll —Kya Morden
(...) When I was a kid I'd build spaceships that would connect like Battle of the Planets/G-Force/I forget the other name of it.      (...) Hmmm, nope. Never heard of it. That's U of U, right? I'll be taking night classes there soon (starting on my Bachelor's in E.E.) Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

(...) Yep, U of U. They're an anime club. My friends and I would sometimes go there, but they had a tendency to watch anime that I wasn't particularly interested in (me being the main anime fan in my group). Just was curious with all your interest (...) (25 years ago, 11-Feb-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Most Inspiring Anime/Manga Poll —Mike Timm
(...) Mecha wise my first big attraction was Robotech, but I had seen (and liked Starblazers years before). I also watched much Battle of the Planets and Voltron (liked the lion series better).         Re: Most Inspiring Anime/Manga Poll —Colin Gutierrez
<ramble> The first anime based show I remember watching was Star Blazers/Battleship Yamato (Though I don't remember mecha, per se.) Later I discovered Robotech and devoured every episode.      (...) There weren't any. There were a lot of spaceships, but no "giant robots" or other mecha. (...)         Re: Most Inspiring Anime/Manga Poll —Mark Sandlin
(...) You should check out some of the other Gundam mecha. It's true that many of them are heavily ornamental, but if you scour through some of the 20-odd different series, you can find more "military" looking mecha. Some of my favorites: Zeta (...)         Mech terminology —Todd Lehman
Say, is there a good guide around anywhere to mech terminology, especially weapon types? One of the notations I've seen a lot of, for instance, is "SRM##", where the ##'s seem to be the count of rockets (i.e., SRM8 or SRM20). At this point, I can (...)       (...) Any of the BattleTech manuals (you have to go to a game store). Short Range Missle (amount). LRM is Long Range Missle. Bruce (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

         Re: Mech terminology —Eric Joslin
(...) Short Range Missle. As opposed to Long Range Missile. The number does indeed designate how many. It's from Battletech. Well, unless they took it from someplace else.          Re: Mech terminology —Karim Nassar
(...) It's generally a good idea to refrain from using the term "mech" in public postings... "Mech" is a trademark owned by FASA (the makers of the rediculously bad Battletech series of miniature wargames) derived from the word "BattleMech". They (...)
