  Real Pics Of New Mecha

(URL) a preview. Sorry for the terrible quality, I only own a Hi-8 Camcorder, not a digital camera. ;-( BTW Non of the brave men shown survived... Mladen Pejic, over and out! (URL) (24 years ago, 29-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Real Pics Of New Mecha

(...) Nasty looking (... not the quality <grin>) Quick note on Hi-8: I have Hi-8(sony) too and have found that even in day light (as these look to be) turn on as many other lights AYC. I know it does not look like there is more light to the Human (...) (24 years ago, 29-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

It certainly has a big, um... cannon. :^D ~Mark (24 years ago, 29-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Real Pics Of New Mecha

Fear not, I will LCAD and render this model tomorrow, then you can judge it's looks. I just wanted to show all the non-LCAD people that I do build all my models IRL, and I also wanted to do a cool scene, well it looks like I didn't succeed... ;-( (...)   Re: Real Pics Of New Mecha

Why which cannon do you mean... ;-) Seriously though, if you mean the "groin" mounted artillery cannons, well than, ha ha ha... I really wish people realize that it is a mecha not a human. BTW I put "groin" mounter cannons on my LZ-70 and LZ-140 (...) (24 years ago, 29-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Real Pics Of New Mecha

(...) BTW I (...) I get that with my mecha all the time, kids mostly. Building legs which mimic human legs leaves an empty space in there and I'd rather make use of that space than waste it simply because of the humor stage many children seem to get (...) Thanks Brian! LEGO Senior Designer? Maybe, but there are tons of other people here more worthy of that position. ;-) (...) Lego! (...) (24 years ago, 29-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Real Pics Of New Mecha

(...) Is it just me, or does this sound like thinly veiled condescension? If you put a large phallic cannon between the legs of your mecha, you shouldn't be surprised if people chuckle at it, regardless of their age. But that's ok if you think I'm (...) (...) seem (...) I must admit that, even at my age, I got a chuckle from it. It's just so noticeable there that it's hard not to laugh. But it is a good place to mount a weapon. (no pun intended) I was just curious about the type of ordnance used by (...) (24 years ago, 29-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Real Pics Of New Mecha

Yeah, I guess it is pretty funny, regardless of age! ;-) Regarding the type of ammunition the weapon uses, well I usually like going for the direct kill, so, yeah lethal anti-infantry rounds, but it can also shoot anti-tank shells. BTW The 6 Yellow (...) (24 years ago, 29-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Real Pics Of New Mecha

(...) BTW I (...) Sorry Mladen but I've got to go with Mark on this one. Only I thought it was a flame thrower, not a cannon. ;-D (24 years ago, 29-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Real Pics Of New Mecha

(...) seem (...) Looks AND sounds can be decieving. (...) I don't mind a chuckle, but you wouldn't believe what a big deal some kids make out of it. I usually try to mount a weapon that looks nothing like IT. (...) I wasn't thinking your childish. (...) (24 years ago, 29-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Real Pics Of New Mecha

There are such things as low-yield nukes, which have a small blast range and are used on smaller targets. The US military has "man packs," so called because they can be carried in a backpack. They are of approximate strength that they can destroy a (...) (24 years ago, 30-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Real Pics Of New Mecha

Mark's is correct. And I specifically stated "Tactical" Nuclear Missiles, not things like the "H-Bomb" and etc. And I was kidding when I said that it would "light" the battlefield. Anyways, don't you think that the missiles would be to the advantage (...) (24 years ago, 30-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Actually, I've heard the same thing but I believe it is actually the Russian Government that possessed such devices and subsequently lost them - along with numerous rumored caches of Russian military firearms allegedly hidden around North (...)   Re: Real Pics Of New Mecha

(...) a) what do you expect? It's a *humanoid* mecha, so any elements/attributes which are even vaguely analogous to (hu)man features, will be interpreted that way. b) I'm not sure about your rationale for inserting a groin-gun. There's a lot going (...) (24 years ago, 30-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Tactical nukes (was: Real Pics Of New Mecha)

(...) They're in the book, too. Some of the MI had Y-racks on their backs from which they could lob several tac-nukes to either side. Heinlein doesn't specifically mention yield, but it's inferred that the lethal radius of the blast is well below (...) (24 years ago, 31-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

I can't speak for Tom in this matter, but I've heard that Spamnium is a pretty powerful explosive source. ^__^ ~M (24 years ago, 31-Aug-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Tactical nukes (was: Real Pics Of New Mecha)

(...) We at Sproat Labs tried working with Spamnium (including its dirivatives Spamtomium, Spamitillium, and the dreaded Twice-Baked Spamcake), but it emitted so many bogon particles that we quickly exhausted our reserves of Fruitcake shielding...   Re: Tactical nukes (was: Real Pics Of New Mecha)

(...) Sure. Look at the USMC...they _issued_ (to the div. level) 1.5kt nukes, that were man portable. Only one little problem...the rocket propelling the nuke had a range of about 2km, and the radiation was lethal at about 2.5km... (...) @22 lbs (...) LOL! Good ones, Mark and Jeremy! Hmmm... Here in my universe, Spamnium is too powerful for our reactors to bear... Just last week 12 colonies were whipped-out when one reactor went critical! Damn spam, wish we never even mined it! ;-) Mladen (...) (...) (24 years ago, 31-Aug-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) LOL! "Military intelligence" hard at work. :-, In Starship Troopers (and Ogre/G.E.V.) anyway, this is addressed by the radiation suits the troops wore (as you later note). At some point in the book, when they need to penetrate an area (...) (24 years ago, 31-Aug-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
