MegaBloks announced the license for Mobile Suit Gundam on their Japanese
website
today.  This doesn't come as much of a surprise to me, considering
they've had Power Rangers for a while, not to mention a few other anime
properties, so they've got a relationship with Bandai that Lego doesn't
have.

Sigh. That puts me in a very tough position.

1) I hate Megablocks, and refuse to buy their low quality bricks and poor
designs.
2) I'm possibly the biggest Gundam fan here.

What do I do now? :/

Build your own in Lego :-)

Thats what I'm thinking. From the darkened picture they have on the
megablocks japan website, I can't see any real special parts... but I'm
wondering how they do the joints. Like, Bionicle was a god send for mecha
modelers, due the wide range of movement on the ball joints.

I may buy one just to see how it works, unless someone out there has a good
guide on building inner frames with bionicle parts and hanging armor off of
them.

(...) The Lego Exo-force sets (also some of the creator sets like the T-rex) use joints that are sort of quite obviously very similar/copied from the the Blok Bots sets which the Gundam sets appear to use. -Mike Petrucelli (18 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)
