I was forwarded this little gem from the mean spirited people that frequent
jlug. This is far from the first time postings with my name have been brought to
my attention. Even newbies have contacted me expressing disgust with the nature
of the hate on exhibition. Funny since I mind my own business.

I really want to just focus on building and sharring.
I have worked for years to tirelessly promote the work of others.
I have endured much jealousy and arm chair quarterbacking.
I have enjoyed reaching out to people out of the love of the Brick.
I do not wish to argue or cause trouble.
I sit at my desk with a light and build. I still find my name being tossed
around when I mind my own business.

At this point in my life I wish to turn my back on all of the negativity.
The Lego Fan community has its shameful content. This is a prime example.

To all of the people I have worked with on projects, met in person, helped out
with building tips, or just simply responded to eachother in kind. Remember, my
love is in building. Forgive me for stepping away.

There for, if you don't see me around. Just know I have had my fill and feel
more shame for the community than pride.

Here's one example of a coward making the negativity seem premeditated.
I have said it before, LUGNET is what the members make it.
Try to help make it a good place where we enjoy eachother's creativity.
Do not believe the hype.

"Actually, it probably has more to do with the elitist community that surrounds
guys with names like Brian, Aaron, Mark, and E. They pretty much own
LugnetMecha, and they're the only ones who seem to matter. Opening this contest
to everyone was just one of those "let's do something unselfish to make everyone
think we're not elitist cocks" gambits, and I for one was fooled. Never again."

Who ever wrote that, be lucky we never meet in person.
I'll add you to the list.

Eric Sophie

Goodbye.

P.S. Who ever wrote that, won't you come here and discuss the issue without
slamming on people who are trying to at least do something with this great
resource; LUGNET, also if people have made you feel like you don't matter, than
try to have fun with us, build with us, talk with us. I mean all of us. Because
if those who like to build Mecha make you feel unwelcome, that is the last thing
I want. Have fun with us. Build and share. What more should there be? Certainly
not the disparaging dialog outside the forum that occurs on jlug and other
blogs.

Infact quit your whinning and grow a thicker skin. Right?

Gone Fishing. later.

Gah!

P.S.S. Trust Mark Neumann in his motivations. Mark came up with the IRON MECHA
contest on his own and I was glad he took the inititive. He distanced himself
from the judging by handing over the judging to other individuals. Again an
attempt to ensure fairness.

Please do not miss trust his motivations. I asked Mark to be a curator, I trust
his ability to be fair to EVERYONE. Some people just sound like spoiled sports.

I probably won't win because to many people will think it is somehow unfair or
fixed. That is unfair to my hard work. Mark made a contest and I built an entry.
No more no less.

(...) --SNIP-- Perhaps you should consider not tarring an entire online community with one brush just because one member of that community says something you don't like. You have also quoted that person out of context which is somewhat rude. JLUG (...) (18 years ago, 7-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)

(...) Please x-fut to lugnet.off-topic.debate. It is offensive enough to have comments made about mecha builders making mechs for a contest without having such sore attitudes. I hardly want to read it myself. Leigh came out and made clear why he (...) (18 years ago, 7-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)

So, my guess is that this post will go generally unnoticed by the majority of the established fan community. The reason, I believe, is that my name is not known very well yet.
