I am so disturbed from seeing this post that after nearly 2.5 years of silence I
can’t remain quiet on this issue!

First, let me express how incredibly impressed I am with the Iron Mecha
contest!!!  I believe that this is the best thing to ever happen on lugnet.  I
have never seen so many wonderful Lego interpretations of an original model in
my life!!!

Now about this:

"Actually, it probably has more to do with the elitist community that surrounds
guys with names like Brian, Aaron, Mark, and E. They pretty much own
LugnetMecha, and they're the only ones who seem to matter. Opening this contest
to everyone was just one of those "let's do something unselfish to make everyone
think we're not elitist cocks" gambits, and I for one was fooled. Never again."

Dear Legomaster,

You have no idea how difficult it is to construct a mobile suit with only a
limited budget(~$50 for new pieces per model).  You have forgotten how difficult
it is to get accepted and recognized or even JUST noticed on lugnet.build.mecha.
I know first hand how much I loved and fought for every single reply I can get
on any of my creations but recently this forum has more posts concerning egos
than Legos!

The number of mechs that have been posted on brickshelf and have went completely
unnoticed here is ridiculous.  Do I have to remind you that before we even had
posts listing ALL the Lego mechs that have been posted ANYWHERE on the internet
and we all commented on them?

And now for the people who have decided not to post on build.mecha anymore:
Yes, there are elite lego mecha builders.  They have invested a lot of money and
time in their mobile suits and armors. But don’t forget that these people also
have skill and creativity and this contest separates more than ever the casual
builder from the lego artists.

So what!?  It is your choice how to interpret what you see in front of you.  I
have not been so fired up about Lego in years!!!  I have never thought in my
life that people can create such wonderful mechs based on such HIDEOUS starting
image!  I have never felt so inspired by other people’s work in my entire life
and if you guys feel the same then keep building and I promise you that from now
on there will be at least one person who will ALWAYS comment on your creations
if you make a post in lugnet.mecha!!!!!!!!!!

And yes, this forum does feel like it has everyone layered into Tier 1 through 3
builders and sometimes it becomes REALLY annoying and no, I haven’t forgotten
about the Mecha Hall of Fame either.  I am sure whoever made that had good
intensions, but you guys have no idea how many wonderful builders who put their
entire soul into their work have been insulted with that additional
stratification!  And finally, yes, sometimes it is very hard to talk to some of
the people here and it feels like they are looking down on your work, however
that is rare and should be forgiven because:  Overall this is an incredible
meeting place for all casual and downright fanatic lego mecha builders and, to
my knowledge, this forum has no second to it in the world when it come to
exchange of creative ideas and constructive criticism!!!

Keep building and never let anything curb your creativity!!!

P.S.

The Legomaster:
”…I probably won't win because to [too] many people will think it is somehow
unfair or fixed. That is unfair to my hard work…”

LEGOS not EGOS, got it?  Consider that people also obey the rule that for every
action there is a direct reaction.  If there are entire threads made on other
websites criticizing this forum and you then you can:

1. Go ballistic and angry that they have openly expressed their frustration with you and the forum (which btw shows how much interest they had in both).

OR

2.  Consider what could it be that has angered and disappointed these and many
other people (or do you think I have not noticed the HUGE reduction of posts in
this forum).

I was forwarded this little gem from the mean spirited people that frequent jlug. This is far from the first time postings with my name have been brought to my attention. Even newbies have contacted me expressing disgust with the nature of the hate (...) (19 years ago, 7-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha) !!
