It was supposed to be a crane, but I just ran out of time. A crane would have taken some R&D while I knew I could fake a gun together fairly quickly.

Legs: I like the color details, use of hoses, general platey-ness.

Again they’re supposed to look like those CAT tractors and stuff.

Body: rear platform, opening panels (mortars?), cockpit with back access and swivel chair (a good practical detail).

The rear platform was originally going to hold parts that were being worked on. And a cockpit if you can believe it. My favorite part is the HUD display http://brickshelf.com/gallery/Bryce/Mecha/Quadraped/iron_mecha_62.jpg yes those are supposed to be mortars though they’d look much better out in the open (hanging off the back maybe) of a mech(a).

Missile pod: (those warheads look unusually dangerous, like when it opens up the enemy will immediately recognize them and say “oh no! he’s got the micro fusion warheads!”)

Someone told me ordiance should be red. I think they look like cherries.

Main gun: There’s something not right about the ratio of the barrel size to the mount. It makes me think it has to be very light and recoil-less (but in the gif it clearly packs a punch :-).

It attaches oddly because I was trying to mirror the original drawing. Overall I was trying to go for that clean look the space guys have. Just a clean, functional looking design with some slight greebiness. I can see how/why they’re all nuts. You can drive yourself crazy making detail after detail just right. Honestly you could just keep reworking one model over and over adding this opening and that function. Kind of fun but I’ll be leaving it up to the real pros from now on :-)

I don’t care if I win. I just didn’t want ya’ll thinking I didn’t know how to use the “real” bricks anymore.

In retrospect I should have just gone off and made it all evil and weird ;-)
