The technic pegs and rods are very loose, and I think it is hard to make a Mecha with them.>> I noticed the same problem, so I switched from technic pins (light grey) to technic pins with friction (black). They have tiny grooves that make them much tighter. I don't know where to get them in mainstream Lego playsets, as I got all of my friction pins with Lego Dacta educational sets (quite good for technic parts, BTW). Build well, James

I have dozens of the black friction pins and no dacta sets so they must come in 'normal' sets somewhere. however for me, even the black pins only work on small mecha. most of my 8+ inch models won't even stand using two friction pins a joint.
