BricksWest 2002 Schedule Updated - Mecha, MindStorms and Microfig...OH MY!

Hi folks! I wanted to let you all know that, thanks to the much appreciated dedication some of your fellow AFOL, BricksWest has been able to add several new sessions to our event schedule. Remember, BricksWest is a completely fan run event, so it is (...)   I'm Back!

yes folks the Legomaster is back! Thank you for all the kind compliments on the GG Mech: (URL) are some stats: Gomgile - The GG Mech, a Grey Green Biomechanoid. She's 37 inches tall. Weights in at 21 pounds. 4 motors and a DDSK unit in the chest. 1 (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Recent Mecha Thoughts

(...) Well, you can't say that is 100% true. How about countermeasures which a tank can employ to block the targeting mechanism of the missile? For example, the Russian T-90 has a whole bunch of things that allow it to survive. First off, and this (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Recent Mecha Thoughts

(...) Now that I think of it, you have a good point there. In my pure space days there was nothing in the world that could have convinced me that a Gundam could take down a Star Destroyer for example, and there is nothing now that can convince me (...)   Re: Recent Mecha Thoughts

(...) :-) Thats why I wrote it that way. Seriously though I hope no one took my "Real World Viability" rant to mean I did not like all the cool mech(a)s models that get shown here. (Then again I like all the trains and castles too.) -Mike Petrucelli (23 years ago, 9-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Recent Mecha Thoughts

Well, Matt, my take on the whole antimecha flame war is this: You either get it or you don't. Mecha has quite a bit in common with space and spaceheads like you and I understand mecha much easier than trainheads do. Townies tend to admire the work (...)   Re: Recent Mecha Thoughts

(...) You know? I really like that...kinda' covers all the bases no matter which side of the name argument one favors. Matt (23 years ago, 9-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Recent Mecha Thoughts

(...) Now this is completly subjective and open to debate. I personally build what most people consider "cute" and/or "little" fighters. To me they are able to kill almost any other fighter or mech(a) with one shot. Hey my "Empire" the Galactic (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Intro...

(...) Welcome! We alsways like seeing new blood around here. (...) Modestly successful? That's awfully modest of you to say. ;) Yes, you do have a lot of good ideas! We hope to see more of them soon. Orc and Ranger are the ones I like the most thus (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Intro...

Hey, this is my first post to lugnet.build.mecha. i've been reading lugnet for a year, but just now got it setup so i can post. here is the brickshelf gallery of my few modestly successful mecha designs: (URL) have some cool designs in my head, and (...)   Re: Diablock Mecha

Those are very cool. They look well done (more or less). I really like this page. They are all clear like those Gundam models. I couldn't find more pics like these though. (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Recent Mecha Thoughts

I actually caught part of that lame thread. Seems to me that some of the other Lugneters are confussed either by the difference between Bionicle & Avatars or Bionicle and Mecha. Maybe they are simply confussed in general??? I don't really know nor (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: New MOC: NH-1 'Eisen'

(...) I've seen this one-- I really like! Great idea to integrate the two-- not enough of that here, IMO. I like the 'Foundry'-type dioramas, but I've been wanting to do a 'naturalistic' scene for some time now, too. You'll probably beat me to it, (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Recent Mecha Thoughts

(...) You know, it is. I'm not sure why but I'll venture a guess. As with anything you have purists. Legos mean ______ to some people and when confronted with a new idea it gets rejected by the collective that belives the absolute. Sound stupid? (...)   Re: Recent Mecha Thoughts

(...) Actually I did a bit on this very topic. Take a look: (URL) both terms are correct. Mecha refers more to the Japanese style, and mech is everything else. (Mechs have grease and oil stains. That's about the only difference really...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Recent Mecha Thoughts

(...) Ha ha ha! No harm done. It was just a perfect illustration of people not knowing what to make of this stuff. Forgive me for using you as the example. :) (...) Yes, they probably would. :) But some day in the not too distant future the minifigs (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Recent Mecha Thoughts

(...) eeps! That was me! Didn't mean to make you sad. I forgot if they are referred to as "mech" or "mecha", I seem to remember someone being strongly reminded one of the terms was incorrect. Got it now, Mecha. Although, if any of my minifigs saw (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New MOC: "Ranger" Dual-Role Mecha

(...) Heh, well after I saw your "Eisen" mecha (as well as Sun Yun's "Escala"), I was immediately inspired! (...) Thanks Geordan! Yeah, I was afraid I would run out of good colour schemes to use. ;-) (...) plating. Yeah, I really enjoy making mecha (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Recent Mecha Thoughts

(...) Quote from the Starship Modeler mecha page ((URL) obvious component to the stable of sci-fi vehicles are "mecha". While the strict japanese definition covers anything mechanical, for our editorial purposes we'll define "mecha" as manned power (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Recent Mecha Thoughts

(...) This actually makes me very sad. I've noticed a couple people mention that they won't be building mecha anymore and that is a great loss to the build.mecha community. When I see something "awe-inspiring", i take in as much of the "awe" I can (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)
