  all my mecha

this is my first post, and i just wanted to ask if anybody has any reliable hip joint designs for medium to large bots? (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Evangelion construction

(...) It depends on the width of the legs and the total weight of the model. If you have thin legs (no more than 4 studs) and a light Eva, using several click hinges in parallel will do the trick. Ebay is a good sources for large numbers of click (...) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: New Alpha Team Set

(...) Yeah, I was a bit too harsh yesterday, sorry about that. It is these other factors that I am protesting against. Many people liked Star Wars Episode I for example, but the majority of old Star Wars fans were uterly disgusted by it. In the same (...) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Evangelion construction

<snip> (...) I think some of the Technic Cyberslam has purple technic pieces, and if you dig hard enough, I think there is some sand blue in the Red Planet Protector from the Life on Mars stuff. Purple and Sand Blue might work together. However, I (...) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: New mech: Sensei Trainer

(...) More? Jeez, the only way I could've gotten more poseability out of this would've been if I'd put in a spine. Pretty much EVERY other joint in the human body is represented here :) I actually thought about a spine, but if I'd done that, I (...) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Evangelion construction

(...) Which pieces are the right ones, though? I need strength and compactness in one package, so anything along those lines that isn't too rare would be useful. (...) 1) Gundams rock. I like them a lot. But anything that I do based on that would (...) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Evangelion construction

(...) Well, the skull's about 6x6x4 without the jaw joint or armor plating. I'll estimate at least 8x8x6, maybe a bit larger with the chin :-) (...) Quite large, yes. Up there with Brian Cooper's designs, I suppose. (...) Wait... there *are* purple (...) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Evangelion construction

(...) Congrats! Welcome to the club! More mecha postings are always welcome. (...) No problem. I'm sure we'll see it in time. Tough design to work on, btw. I've tried it myself and can't get it to work the way I want to. (...) I feel your pain. :) (...) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: New Alpha Team Set

(...) I actually like it too. Horror of horrors! :) (...) Those new arms are spiffy. I expecially like that canopy--that's a beautiful thing, really, and I'm delighted it's available in smoke. How much did that set cost? (...) I like the assortment; (...) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: New mech: Sensei Trainer

(...) I really like the posability of this model, Adrian! You did an outstanding job on this one. I believe that only Chris Snead's Cepheus mecha has more posability, but he's using a very specialized system to get it to work. Getting that much (...)   Re: New Alpha Team Set

(...) I'd have to agree here, Mladen. The set is made based on the parts available at the time. Also, the designers need to make a recognizable model without copying an existing one. Given what they were working with, I really like the end result. I (...) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: New Alpha Team Set

Heh... I actually like it. This is a typical LEGO robot design, so why should anyone be surprised/shocked? The more I look at the new elements, the more I like them. The new arms look really interesting, and also have Technic pegs on the joint ends. (...) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: New Alpha Team Set

This was just posted on brickshelf and it seems to be a new lego set. !!!Warning!!! Seeing this image may result in severe urges to puke, etc, etc... (...) WHAT ARE THESE IDIOTS THINKING!!! This is a mech!!?? These guys have really lost it!!!! This (...) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Evangelion construction

(...) Wellcome Christopher! (...) Join the club. (...) Fine by me, it is the effort and idea that counts. (...) ooh, goody goody, there aren't many people who build in the 2+ feet range. (...) Sadly, with Eva construction one can not use any tricks (...) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: New mech: Sensei Trainer

(...) I'm not familiar with the Zelda games. I guess I'll just have to take your word for it :) I just wanted to show off the poseability of the mech. I especially like the "Come get some!" (URL) "why God, WHY??" (URL) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: New mech: Sensei Trainer

(...) That's cool! The different poses reminds me of Majora's Reincarnation from Zelda: Majora's Mask... I like it!! :-) <<Joel>> (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Evangelion construction

Newbie alert! That's me. Lurker for a while, but I just signed up recently to post. Sadly, I lack a camera to show my work, and I took it apart anyway to retry the design, but I've just started work on a large-scale Evangelion. Mind you, I don't (...)   New mech: Sensei Trainer

Hey all. Ever wondered what people train on to learn how to pilot really big mechs? Well, I'm here to answer that. Presenting the Sensei Training Mech. It's big, but unarmed and unarmored. It's used to teach pilots how to handle a large mech without (...) (23 years ago, 20-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: New mecha: Pipsqueak
