Well, first off, I am glad I got you to build anything, because your results
are usually awesome when you get around it. But Im surprised that, given
that the point was to show off a thinner car that fits two minifigs astride,
none of your 8 photos actually show two minifigs in the car. But Ill give
you the benefit of the doubt.

Of course you can trust me--Im from the government.
What?
OK then, heres a picture as proof.

I guess the overall question is: if the LEGO world is to best mirror the
human world, how wide (and how long) should an average car be? From
attending a few Brickfests, and occasionally stumbing into .trains, I recall
that train widths is a hotly debated topic, and Im not sure I want to open a
car width debate that could have the same devastatingly polarizing affect on
the .town community. So Ill just scamper back to .ancient and try to avoid
any more Brick Testament scenes with automobiles.

Oh, but its a topic that I find endlessly fascinating. It all boils down to
two things: The fact that the dimensions on a minifig are way off, and the fact
that LEGO traditionally (with very few exceptions) produces 6-wide trains and
4-wide autos. If minifigs were skinnier, and if LEGO produced
closer-to-true-scale vehicles, there really wouldnt be a debate.
So 6-wide for trains is the standard because, well, its what LEGO builds in.
But its not even close to true minifig scale. An easy rule of thumb for
scale is one stud equals one foot (but of course that is merely an estimate).
So, using that, lets look at a car I fancy--such as the
Lexus SC430 hardtop convertable. Its
just under 15 feet long (14.8333) and exactly 6 feet wide. Compare this to my
car, which is about 16 studs long (15 not including bumpers...) and 6 studs
wide.
Now, since 6-wide is the minimum possible width to fit two minifigs
side-by-side, its a convenient number for cars--and it happens to be in scale,
as well. So while smaller cars may
look cute, they certainly
arent what anyone should consider a realistic scale.

As youve discovered, I can just as easily invite you to cool LEGO events
happening 2,500 miles away. :) Of course, you were polite enough to give me
more than six days notice.

Yes, and out of spite, I almost sent a proxy in my place. Luckily for you,
Keith couldnt make it.
