Wealth - I like that shelf solution using clips. How is the screen attached
on the computer? It looks like its attached to a steering wheel piece.

Good call. I hadnt realized that you can pull the steering wheel off of its
base. But be careful if you try this. One out of the three wheels I pulled off
broke a piece of the base off with it.
The computer screen tile is then just precariously balanced on the nub that held
the steering wheel. Im not sure if that nub fits any other LEGO parts
securely, but I did jam a black lightsaber blade piece into the center of a
steering wheel so that the sports car I made for this story would have a
steering wheel in the last photo. But at the angle I took the photo, it turns
out you cant see the wheel, just the altogether-too-long steering column.

In the yard sale the block of books on the right looks a little odd,
espeically since its a mix of 1x2s and 2x2s.
|
Yeah, that looks pretty crappy. I was hoping nobodys eyes would be
particularly drawn to that, but I really should have made that look better. I
was imaging that as their vinyl album collection, so the 1x2s dont even make
sense. Maybe theyre long box CDs. Arenht those collectors items nowadays?

This is the second time youve used this technique of bending
a head up for someone laying down - interesting - I think it was
better in the previous instance where they were dead, since it
seems an unnatural angle.
|
Ive used that technique a few other times in previous Bible stories to depict
dead people who have perhaps had their necks broken. Youre right that this is
the first time Ive had a living person in this pose, but I kind of liked it for
a down-and-out street dude.

Why just the one fleshy fig on the divorced
woman while yellow everywhere else?
|
I guess for all the modern scenes in The Brick Testament, I am equating the more
standard yellow minifig skin color with what is commonly referred to in our
culture as white, and the less common minifig skin colors are meant to
represent non-whites. I guess I think of most of these modern scenes as
taking place in the USA, so white, which is to say yellow, is the majority
skin color.
This is different (and admittedly, perhaps conflicting) with what Ive done in
the ancient Bible stories, where yellow is meant to portray a more golden-toned
Middle Eastern skin color, and the more pink-skinned minifigs are supposed to
represent the lighter-skinned Greeks and Romans.
In each case though, Ive used the yellow figs as the majority skin color mostly
for practical reasons--there are far more possible minifig facial expressions to
choose from in yellow than any other color, and I think the yellow minifig is
still the most iconic and instantly recognizeable as a LEGO person.
But mainly I chose that pink-skinned LEGO womans face because I thought it was
cool, fit the story well, and was one I havent had the chance to use before.
|
Castration - Ouch! That face just says it all, doesnt it? Perfect choice.
My favorite detail is probably the toilet paper roll behind him. I wish I
could see the toilet itself.
|
I was pretty pleased with how that bathroom came out. Im not sure if its
still intact, but I should take a photo of it with the amenities in focus.
|
Self mutilation - This may be my favorite of your redone lessons. In the
first pic thats the perfect face eyeing the well-endowed fig.
|
I meant to give a shoutout to the person whose bikini idea I borrowed, but I
couldnt find it on LUGNET or Brickshelf when I went to look.
|
Law of Moses - In the first pic, why is Jesus holding the scroll upside down?
|
Upside down? Oh, youre used to reading things left to right, but Hebrew is
written right to left. :)
OK, OK, actually, it just seemed more natural to have Jesus holding the side of
the scroll that is rolled up. I cant believe I still havent gotten that new
2x2 tile scroll piece that you pointed out months ago. Shame on me.

I really like that customized hairpiece on the boss. That scene looks very
much like something from Office Space.
|
Yep, that scene was based on a freeze-frame from the movie. I happened to have
already cut a hairpiece into a decent facsimile of Lumberghs hair.

Good Papal balcony and LOL at his hat.
|
It took me a while to figure out where to have the Pope. I thought of having
him visiting Bush in the Oval Office, but that didnt look quite right. And I
dont know if people would recognize the interiors of the Vatican. Then I
vaguely remembered that the Pope sometimes goes out on a balcony, so I Google
Image searched for Pope balcony and voila.

Looking forward to future installments.

As am I. :)
