  Re: Unfinished Project Release

(...) It's a shame there isn't a bit more. How long did you spend on that, Mike? I tried to do some POV animation a while back, but the learning curve was a little too steep for what I wanted to do. (21 years ago, 2-Jan-04, to lugnet.animation)

  Unfinished Project Release

Usually people try to finish projects before they release them, but...got to make room for other projects, you know. So I stopped production of "Piano Player", which I started a few weeks ago while waiting for components to arrive for the next (...) (21 years ago, 23-Dec-03, to lugnet.animation)

Just a short announcement here... Spotted Cow Studios has just completed its 'Upcoming Films' page at the Studios' website: (URL) and click on "Upcoming Films." On this page you can see short progress reports and a short description of each (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.animation)

  Proof I'm going insane

Who do you know in their right mind that would stand in their stocking feet on a cold, hard cement floor in their basement for three straight hours endlessly clicking off over 650 photos of exactly the same thing?? We animators are a nutty lot. :) (...) (21 years ago, 13-Dec-03, to lugnet.animation)

  Re: Which camera?

(...) Specifically, make sure you get one that does all the above in streaming webcam mode. The most valuable tool in stop-mo animation is onion-skinning. This generally only works in "webcam" mode, in my experience. I use a Logitech QuickCam Pro (...) (21 years ago, 12-Dec-03, to lugnet.animation)

  Re: Which camera?

(...) I don't have the Pro4K though I've heard great things about it. However, I would recommend that you spend a little more and go out and buy yourself a digital camera, somewhere in the 2+MP range. The reasons being that you will get excellent (...)   Which camera?

Up to this point I have been using a sony miniDV camcorder with firewire. But I want to switch to something USB. I have heard the QuickCam ro 400 is pretty good, anyone have experience with it? Or any other recommendations? Thanks, Rand (21 years ago, 5-Dec-03, to lugnet.animation)

  Delivery chute

It's been a while since I contributed to my favorite group, so I thought I would post this... This afternoon while I was, uh...working hard, I happened to see one of my Technic figure seats laying around and it occurred to me that the backrest was (...)   Re: Lewa in Exo Toa Zaps Makuta

(...) Thanks for the kind words! It was all luck. I started with a pic that had fortuitous lighting: (URL) initial thought was just to add a lens flare using PhotoImpact (www.ulead.com). After a lot of fiddling around I added lightning: (URL) then I (...) (21 years ago, 27-Nov-03, to lugnet.animation)

Re: Lewa in Exo Toa Zaps Makuta

(...) And of course how you created the zap effect. I can quite easily create the fireball (I did a smaller version in my film Glowing Orbs) but the lightning stumps me. You didn't draw each part by hand, did you?! ~Mike (21 years ago, 27-Nov-03, to lugnet.animation, lugnet.technic.bionicle)

Re: Lewa in Exo Toa Zaps Makuta

(...) really cool - to me - how the slowness of the effects actually makes the segment seem longer than it is. Most folks who would show off a clip that short would have something that just went ZIP! and you wouldn't really now what you'd seen. The (...)
