  Re: Velociraptor

(...) Well, yeah, isn't that the irony of this whole thing? (...) Ooo, good point. But I think the TLC T-Rex is a compromise, all the way around. Not that I've stayed up late nights comparing the mini-T with scientific evidence. Actually, the (...) (24 years ago, 6-Jul-00, to lugnet.adventurers)

  Re: Velociraptor

(...) Well, yeah, but since the theme is "living" dinosaurs, aren't we already engaging in a little fiction? Besides which, prevailing wisdom at the time of the Adventurers' adventures had the T-Rex as a completely upright, tail- dragging, (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.adventurers)

  Re: Velociraptor

Velociraptor was discovered on the Andrews Central Asiatic Expedition in the 1920s, which is during the Adventurers time period. In fact, it is likely they were on this expedition. A bigger raptor closer ot the one in Jurassic Park, Deinonychus, was (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.adventurers)

  Re: Hitler minifig (Adventurers)

To All, This thread is drifting way off from LEGO directed questions and posts and the like. Please direct all further ramblings about Germans and the like to off-topic.debate or off.topic.fun. I am getting tired of reading this in these groups. (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, lugnet.build.minifigs, lugnet.adventurers)

  Re: Hitler minifig (Adventurers)

(...) Maybe I don't have your sense of humour, but maybe you should think hard until you speak up. (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.adventurers, lugnet.build.minifigs)

  Re: Hitler minifig (Adventurers)

(...) Doesn't this end up looking like the "Well-Dressed Man" from Blue Velvet? Another option might be the following (not that I am a WW II expert or anything): 1. Brown Mini Legs and waist (from Flash Speeder) 2. Bi-Wing Baron's Torso (exchange (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.adventurers, lugnet.build.minifigs)

  Re: Hitler minifig (Adventurers)

(...) don't (...) Ah, those wacky Germans. Personally, I just can't take Nazi soldiers with those Lego smiley faces seriously. I had to turn their name inside out - Johny Thunder is pursued by Zani soldiers. Bruce (hey, is that a wacky German last (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.adventurers, lugnet.build.minifigs)

  Re: Hitler minifig (Adventurers)

Alright.. it looks as though I am not going to win this one. I admit I shouldn't have stifled the original post, as it was relevant to Lego. I was just tired that night and didn't want a monstrous flame war to erupt like they do when someone posts (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.adventurers, lugnet.build.minifigs)

  Re: Hitler minifig (Adventurers)

(...) And more importantly, Germans, as a whole, aren't Nazis. (...) As an (originally) polish Jew, who's grandparents were all afflicted by the Holocaust, I'm slightly offended by that statement (two posts ago). Not offended by Greg - just by the (...) The exact same thing happened to German kids at my school some 20 years ago, I still feel bad about some of the things which were said back then. Back then (...)   Re: Hitler minifig (Adventurers)

(...) <snip> (...) As I understand it,the "Nazi" were a political party, and it's not safe to say that all Germans were members of the party. I would hate for someone to call me a Democrat (or Republican for that matter, "vote Libertarian") just (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.adventurers, lugnet.build.minifigs)

  Re: Hitler minifig (Adventurers)

(...) don't (...) Agreed. The rise and fall of Nazi Germany is historical fact, as are the attrocities commited by the Nazis. It may not be a happy, warm image to create in Lego, but it did happen and if someone wants to create something with Lego (...)   Satellite dish in 5987

I just noticed the communications gear placed on the roof of the Dino Research Compound (in the new Summer 2000 S@H catalog). What's up with that? If they've got satellite gear, why are they driving those lame old trucks? They should be in Hummers. (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.adventurers)

  Re: Velociraptor

(...) Because velociraptors hadn't been discovered in the time when the Adventurers' adventures took place. So the velociraptors would be out of place. Besides, it would make the Dino-Adventurers seem just a little *too* much like Jurassic Park. (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.adventurers)

Re: WWII mini-figs and indiana jones

I do not think that they were trying to use the mummy as a guideline to the adventurers theme i think it is inspired from indiana jones because of the mini-fig resebalance take for example jhonny thunder = indiana jones (...)   Re: WWII mini-figs and indiana jones

(...) Did you see Raiders of the Lost Ark? Or Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade? Those are more of the inspiration for the Adventurers line than Temple of Doom, which was not nearly as good as the other two. Also, the beginning of Raiders has Indy in (...)   Re: WWII mini-figs and indiana jones

(...) I disagree, I think that they were mooching off the potential sucess of the movie The Mummy that I believe was released in 1998. Have you seen it? Very Adventurerish throughout. Great movie. I've seen Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom too, (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.adventurers)
