  Re: Vote to unhighlight?

(...) <snip> (...) It's a good idea on paper. The issue will arise when Group A has more people than Group B--Group A can always make sure nothing from Group B ever gets highlighted just by everyone in Group A 'lowlighting' the post. I mean if we (...) (21 years ago, 27-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  Re: Vote to unhighlight?

(...) Suz, Thanks for the clarification. Yes. I mean lowlight. Kevin (21 years ago, 27-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  Re: Vote to unhighlight?

(...) Exactly how I'm reading it as well, Suz. There are many times I've seen something spotlighted and thought to myself, 'Why in the world would anyone spotlight this? I wish I could cancel out their vote.' Then I realize just how open to abusive (...) (21 years ago, 27-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  Re: Vote to unhighlight?

(...) I think what he means is to 'lowlight' a post. Like, if you not only think it shouldn't be hightlighted by yourself, it shouldn't be highlighted by some others either. -Suz (21 years ago, 27-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  Re: Vote to unhighlight?

(...) This is possible. At least to me it is. The drop down highlight menu offers three options: "highlight" "spotlight" and "---" - if you want to un-highlight, change your selection from "highlight" to "---" and hit submit. Works for me. -Lenny (21 years ago, 27-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  Re: Vote to unhighlight?

(...) Something sort of like this (but not exactly) is how things used to work, posts started at 50 and you could assign 20 or 0 or 60 or 100 or any multiple of 10 up to 100... (21 years ago, 27-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  Re: Vote to unhighlight?

(...) I think this has been suggested before. Trouble is, it's open to abuse. If you don't like someone, you can go and "unhighlight" all their posts, effectively censoring them (a bit). ROSCO (21 years ago, 27-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  Vote to unhighlight?

Why can the highlight state olny get brighter? I'd like to be able to vote to unhighlight. That gives the majority of those that have an opinion to have things the way they want. Respectfully, Kevin (21 years ago, 27-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: my “button pushing” opinion! ;)

(...) ...and I thought he only got 45% of the vote. ;) (...) I’m beginning to feel that he is being bloody-minded on this issue. Scott A (21 years ago, 25-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

  Highlight prevension

Is there a way to prevent your own post from being highlighted? I don't like the fact that so much of what went on in admin.general was highlighted. I don't think it was good for the bulk of the people on LUGNET. I also don't think it contributed to (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  Re: Request to move .mecha

(...) My two cents here... I'm not an admin and this just my opinion. If I recall correctly, Space gets it's own newsgroup because it is an official subtheme. Mecha is not an official subtheme and unfortunately gets buried in the .Build newsgroup. I (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

  Re: Request to move .mecha

(...) I would assume so. When you create an FTX formatted post, it turns the post into an FTX page. Any valid FTX should be useable, and any dynamic FTX (such as NewsSpotlight) should continue to be dynamic. Frank (21 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  Re: Request to move .mecha

(...) Interesting. I did not know that, or if I did I've forgotten about it. Is the embedded spotlight dynamic? If I post with an embedded spotlight will it update as new posts are spotlighted? -Duane (21 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

  Re: Request to move .mecha

(...) One thing also to point out, you can put a spotlight for any group on any page, so it would be quite possible to put a lugnet.build.mecha spotlight on the lugnet.space page. Frank (21 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  Re: Request to move .mecha

(...) Some informal, unofficial feedback. The admins have bounced this around a bit. As we see it there are 3 main options: - leave mecha where it is, at build.mecha - move mecha to a new top level group, like .trains (your request explains that you (...)   Re: Request to move .mecha

(...) if I missed one. Going forward, it's not necessary to post cancel requests, you can mail them to any admin. It's not really WRONG to post the request, I suppose, but it's a bit cluttering. (21 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)
