As long as Todd is absentee from LUGNET

I hope you don't assume that Todd (or anyone else) is 'absent' from these
forums when he doesn't respond loudly, swiftly and/or directly to each of
your remarks.

Well, I don't expect a direct reply to each of my remarks.  I do hope that
issues will be resolved promptly though.  That's the standard that has been
set in the past, and that's what I hope for as a paying member of LUGNET.

I don't meant to be attacking in the least.  I (and a few others who have
exchanged offline conversation) have become concerned with the way we see
LUGNET going because of the lack of active administrator involvement.  We
only want the best for the community.

You and Todd both set an excellent standard for adminning in the earlier
days of LUGNET.  I recall with fondness when the two of you were active
participants here.  Its totally fine if you can't participate to that level
now, but I think its a good idea to have *someone* who is an admin here and
active.

Still, what am I (and others) left to assume when direct references to a
lack of admin involvement are left unaddressed?  Correct me if I'm wrong,
but this is the first post on the subject you or Todd has replied to.  I'd
love to open up a dialogue about the lack of admin participation and the
effect on LUGNET.

Having someone who is here with authority and them gently nudging people in
the right direction when they do something wrong will help the flow of
things here.  Words of a non-admin don't carry the same effect.  I think
LUGNET was a much more positive place when the TOS wasn't mocked because it
was enforced.

It was a much happier place when the two of you were active in discussions
too.  I like having you guys around.  Wish you were active more.

I, for one, have been here every day - listening to your comments.

Glad to hear it.

I would imagine we won't be getting a new newsgroup.

Then it may surprise you to hear that edits to charters and a new group • are
already on the way.

A pleasant surprise.  I only assumed that it wouldn't happen soon because I
saw no evidence of participation here.

Wait another 18-or-so hours, and you can put it to use.

Sounds cool!

I find it surprising (and saddening) that people continue to abuse the
.announce group for their MOCs after Todd's post.  I hope its properly
enforced.  Until then, I'll be politely reminding the people who post there.

All the best.

-Tim
