  summaries on main page

Hmmm... can someone help me figure out what's going on here? Here's the summary: Re: I just died and went to lego heaven... Sheree Rosenkrantz Shiri Dori <shirid@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:FrwnoL.Fyu@lugnet.com... [...] am... [...] word to (...) (25 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: summaries on main page

(...) <snip> I think it's because of lie breaks in the message. When a message gets too many replies, the last words from the early replies get pushed by the bracket ">" and they slip down to the next row. Lugnet is smart about it and puts them back (...)   Re: summaries on main page

(...) Good question. No, it's not broken. It's just not as "smart" about repairing bad line breaks as the "All" view-mode is. Note that the actual article itself is what's broken. Details: Here is the raw, actual message, as received, with its (...) (25 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: summaries on main page

(...) Wait, your messages have demarcation between when you're lying and when you're telling the truth? What ASCII character code is that? I want to be able to tell too! ++Lar (25 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.off-topic.fun, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: summaries on main page

(...) Typical programmer answer. :-) Clearly it's not giving good results. But it's working as designed, so it's not a bug. It's a feature. Or a mis-feature. (1) :-) (puts on PM/Architect hat) Whatever you call it, it's not meeting requirements from (...) (25 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: summaries on main page

(...) Ya, Agreed. At the time the "Brief" view-mode was conjured up, there were relatively few messages going by with garbled line-endings, and it didn't show up much at all. People seem to be getting a lot more lazy these days about cleaning up (...) (25 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: summaries on main page

(...) That'd be cool and very useful IMO. When you add it, can you also put the LUGNET header at the top of the "posted message, please use back button" page? Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: summaries on main page

(...) Ooo, yeah. That's what I've been wanting on that page. Consistency would boost usability, in this case. And having a link back to the replied-to message (for follow-ups only, of course), would be grand. But definitely that LUGNET header thingy (...) (25 years ago, 24-Mar-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
