  Re: DNS outage, service restored

(...) Well, I do not say this much, but thank you for the heads-up, though I suspected that something was indeed wrong in here. I am glad that it was not me being stopped, though. I have never said anything wrong in here...at least, when I was (...) (21 years ago, 28-Jan-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Signing off...till March

(...) Just to clerify a few things. I posted the answer quite late (some days later), I recall thinking, that it was too late for this thread, but what... I have sometimes seen, that the confirmation mail cames app 24 hours later, so I did not think (...) (21 years ago, 27-Jan-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Signing off...till March

(...) I'm slightly an expert, and generally, things like this don't go off right on their expiration date -- it's to the registrar's benefit to hold on to it a little while because it's better for you to renew with them than for the domain to go (...)   Re: Signing off...till March

(...) Never said it was outside the realm of possibility. But the nameserver caches were all working fine, till yesterday, that's how things work, the flush order doesn't go out till a week after the expiry. Also, there are a lot of people that use (...)   Re: Signing off...till March

(...) Yes. I also happen to remember that Todd reported the DNS registry as expiring on the 18th. _One_day_ before the original post in this thread. I'm not an expert, but I wouldn't put it outside the realm of possibility that the DNS registration (...) (21 years ago, 27-Jan-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: DNS outage, service restored

(...) Todd, I checked internic's whois database when Lugnet was down, and it had an expiry date of 17 jan 2005. It has since been updated, but I'd definitely query Network Solutions about this. (URL) (21 years ago, 27-Jan-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Signing off...till March

(...) "You may have been able to see and access the website but unable to post; this is because the server, internally, needs to be able to look up its own IP address for various functions, and this was failing." That was part of Todd's post (...) (21 years ago, 27-Jan-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Signing off...till March

(...) While LUGNET WAS down, but is back up now, I didn't think the outage would have impacted confirmation mails. It's a Todd question, I think. XFUT admin.general so he sees it. You might follow up with an email directly to him as well if there's (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jan-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general, lugnet.admin.general)

  DNS outage, service restored

My apologies to everyone who was unable to reach the server for the better part of the past day. I had thought the lugnet.com domain had been renewed through 2005, but it actually was up for renewal this year, with expiry on January 18. (...)   Re: just for you

(...) Oh, I dunno. It seems related to robotics to me! More seriously, this sort of calls the "no cancel without explicit permission" policy into question a bit. We theoretically need to get Ahmed's permission... :-) and with that 35 mill he's got (...) (21 years ago, 24-Jan-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

Please reset my 'From' e-mail address

23 Jan 04 My ISP is dropping the 'startrek.net' server, so my e-mail address will be changing. I've changed it to tw0nst3r@earthlink.net on my Lugnet profile, but it still comes up in message replies '@startrek.net'. Could I ask to please have my (...)   Re: password resets

(...) Todd, Any chance that you could get around to resetting mine, too? Jonathan originally tagged onto my request back on November 26th but it seems mine got missed (of course Jonathan has been much more persistant then me). My # is 2013. -Matt- (21 years ago, 21-Jan-04, to lugnet.admin.general)
