Re: Barcode Pilot #8479 - party time

(...) Apologies (23 years ago, 14-Jan-02, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Market posts and TOS (was Re: Black Cat 5571 + 5563 + 5561)

(...) This is too bad. If he's been following LUGNET for this long, he does [most likely] know better. This is exactly the attitude we DON'T need on LUGNET - people flaunting the charters and disrespecting other groups for their financial gain. (...)   Re: Market posts and TOS (was Re: Black Cat 5571 + 5563 + 5561)

This is a pretty good example of how telling people where to post stuff doesn't do much good. I don't know Ronan myself, but I think he has been around for quite some time. The People listing shows that he has been a lugnet member since 23-Nov-2000. (...) (23 years ago, 14-Jan-02, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.admin.terms)

Re: Market posts and TOS (was Re: Black Cat 5571 + 5563 + 5561)

(...) I second this wholeheartedly. (...) Too bad its taken this long. It should have been changed a while ago. -Tim (23 years ago, 14-Jan-02, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.admin.terms)

Market posts and TOS (was Re: Black Cat 5571 + 5563 + 5561)

(...) There has been talk for ages about changing the TOS to disallow market posts outside the .market hierarchy (presumably they would remain ok in org groups as those groups desire, and shopping tips would remain ok in the .loc groups), and Suz (...)   Re: Redirecting posts (was: Re: Are you looking for a 1592 Town Square - Castle Scene in MIB condition?)

(...) Being corrected in a public forum is somewhat disturbing to most people. On the other hand, getting one correction message is (I would think) less disturbing than getting many. The latter inadvertantly communicates a sense of the "in-group" (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.admin.general)

In lugnet.admin.general, William R. Ward writes: ....and how the heck are all you west-coasters up already?   Re: Survey, new LEGO story. Check it out.

(...) Good point. My assumption was that he would see the thread going this way via the web interface, which keeps the whole thread on one page regardless of what groups it goes to. Can't be so certain though, so I send him a private copy just now. (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Survey, new LEGO story. Check it out.

(...) What is the likelihood that he will look in this newsgroup and see your reply? I hope you sent him a copy via private e-mail. Most people do not read the admin groups, I would venture to suppose... Especially those who are more likely to make (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Barcode Pilot #8479 - party time

I don't think these kinds of post should be posted on lugnet.technic. If so, can someone responsible please take whatever action is appropriate? Given the recent discussions here, I'm not sure what the appropriate action would be. Fredrik (23 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Survey, new LEGO story. Check it out.

Matt - I do not believe this post belongs in lugnet.announce, for the same reason MOC posts were singled out and given a separate group. Here's quoted from the charter: "NOTE: the following are not appropriate: auction announcements, commercial (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jan-02, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Are you looking for a 1592 Town Square - Castle Scene in MIB condition?

You did the right thing IMHO. How would a beginner know if he´s posting to the right place otherwise? Anyone can make a misteak[1], but they need to now about it, so they can avoid it. [1] This is, I believe the correct spelling.. =) /Joakim "Larry (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jan-02, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Redirecting posts (was: Re: Are you looking for a 1592 Town Square - Castle Scene in MIB condition?)

(...) Or 2b. Poster receives 10--20 e-mail messages telling him that he's wrong (many probably more caustic than would have been posted in public) because no one is sure that someone has corrected him. 3b. Some of my thoughts: - I'm glad to see some acknowledgement that the "policing" needs to be done by more than just one or two (or three or four) admins. - With multiple people posting reminders, an advantage of posting over e-mail is less (...) Well if you think that support for vigilantes is what we need I shall watch with interest. However, I for one do not feel that the bickering which results is helpful to LUGNET. Do you? "Dan Boger" <dan@peeron.com> wrote in message (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-02, to lugnet.admin.general)
