All the discussions from LEGO said that the Spybot was NOT a replacement for the RCX. It's targeted at a younger audience than the RCX. I doubt the RCX will go away any time soon. I am somewhat puzzled by the attitude of many people to the Spybots. I think we must accept that Lego is losing money and that its main audience is children. It must therefore devote its efforts to its main customer base, i.e., children. Also, (...) (23 years ago, 8-Aug-02, to lugnet.robotics)

As anyone already tried, using LASM, MindScript or NQC, to program a Spybot and explore it's comms capabilities ? ...be it with a Manas or with a RCX/Scout ? Anyone tried the VLL output and input feature ? thxs, mc. (23 years ago, 2-Aug-02, to lugnet.robotics.spybotics)

I should have removed the word "messenger". After all, doing something by "proxy" would imply a messenger-type role. What I meant was, for DeviceA to send a message to DeviceB, they would have to use some sort of proxy or router between them (the (...) (23 years ago, 23-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)

The RCX uses IR - which is pretty much line-of-sight only - so as soon as your robot drives under a table or around a corner, it'll have to navigate by itself, record all the (...) I have seen IR-to-RF converters for sale. They are been used for remote control of any TV/VCR units without having the line of sight from the TV/VCR-remote controller to the unit.
